Hello everyone!

Tough I should introduce myself properly since I have invaded the forum without even saying hi! : )

My name is Rod and I live in Edison, NJ via Philadelphia and Brasil. I am 39 and manage a private country club in Bergen County, North Jersey.

I am also a musician and sing in a band called "Table for 2", you can check us out at www.tablefor2.net

My motorcycle history goes back to when I was 16 years old with a Yamaha DT 180, a dirt bike. From there came Hondas, Husky's, Piaggios, Agralle, etc....always had one, always rode one!

Prior to the Uly I had a Harley Sportster and a Triumph Daytona (possibly the most fun bike ever!), sold them both when I got married...bad move! Now I left the wife and the bikes are back!

After a 3 year hiatus I bought this 2006 Buell Uly! I have wanted one since they came out, just never got to it, now I have one!

So far my impressions are very positive, since I got it yesterday I have ridden a total of 230 miles, all I could considering I worked both days.
Torque on this thing is phenomenal! Switching gears seems almost optional and the riding position is great! I can go for days on this!
It feels like a tight sportsbike, not an upright riding bike! I love the riding position on this bike and now I seem to have the shock were I want it!
Complaint so far is the heat on my legs on a day like today, very humid, it made for long traffic lights, I have the comfort kit on order and I am sure I will get used to the heat, just not ready for it! : )

That's all, looking forward to meeting some of you in person!

Rod

One of our first upgrades on our '09's was the comfort kit. It definitely helped keep the bike cooler, but the most effective thing we did to combat the dreaded "Uly-leg" (the rash that appears on the inside of your right leg just above your knee after miles in the humid heat) was to invest in a proper pair of riding pants. Makes all the difference, YMMV.

Just ordered a pair last night! : ) Along with a riding jacket, comfort and safety!

Welcome Rod!

My bike must be an oddball because I've never given much of a thought to "the heat issue". That's not to say I don't experience some heat at times, it's just that moving my knee away from the frame a couple of inches for about 30 seconds once in a while seems to be all I've ever needed.

Welcome to the Uly side. Don't forget to put some weatherstripping between the seat and frame on the right side, that'll help with the heat, too.
Edison should be an easy ride to Sussex, check out this ride coming up,

Even with the comfort kit you will get heat from that hole above the rear head just under the front of the seat. Seal that area with aluminum tape. Here is a link to some photos on how to contain that heat. Have at it.

Thanks everyone! I sent Special Ops an email to order his two piece Ully heat protector:

Haven't heard back yet but I am guessing he is away for the weekend so I will wait his reply, looks like a great product!

Just keep buggin him. He will get pretty busy at times but he'll definitely get back with you. I would recommend that while you're at it you just go ahead and order all the heat shields he makes for the Uly. I did that and am very happy with them

If you already have the comfort kit on order, I would wait on ordering any more heat shields.
I have the special Ops heat blankets, but I stopped using them after installing the comfort kit.

Welcome aboard Rod. Sold my bike before I got married, too, mainly because I was moving overseas shortly after. My friends warned me of such folly! Took a couple of years to get her to understand why I HAD to have a bike. And they say women are smarter than we are. Sheesh!
