Hi! Tried this in the knowledge vault with no response, so here it comes: During the winter i performed the breather reroute on my '06 Uly and when i was at it also installed the K&N air filter and the '07 airbox which allows more air. The question is, will this work without remapping the stock ECM, or will it adjust itself? I was planning to go with the Erik Buell Racing ECM but since i havenīt decided if iīm gonna keep the stock muffler or not this purchase is on hold for the time being. Any input is truly appreciated! |

It will be fine, but do yourself a favor and get that Race ECM soon. You will be kicking yourself once you get it and realise how awesome it is Worst comes to worst, you can send it in to be reprogrammed to a different exhaust. |

Go ahead and wire the muffler open, more air in = more air out. |

I guess I'm behind the times on this one. What exactly are the advantages of an Erik Buell Racing racing ecm for an 06 ULY? Keep in mind that I have a stock 06' except for the opened up air box cover. |

I just picked up a 06 Uly a couple weeks ago myself. Can't I just play around with ECMspy and get pretty close to the Erik Buell Racing ecm? I have one for my R and love it, but figured the Uly being an 06, I was safe to play around with the ECM. |

BTW, Can you use ECM Spy to perform TPS reset on the Erik Buell Racing ECM?! Sure hope so... |

Swuly, can't give you an answer, but I did the exact same thing last week on my '06 Uly. I already had the '07 airbox lid, and it seemed to help the bike run a bit smoother at low (<2500) RPM. Just put on the K&N and re-routed the breathers, so have not run this part yet. |

Yes, you can use 'spy to reset the TPS on an '06. I have a stock '06, with K&N and open airbox (homemade '07). Muffler valve WORKING. I don't ever recommend wiring it open - tried it myself, ran like poop, but won't get into the theories here; research WHY the valve is in there in the first place, though, before you wire it open. Erik Buell Racing computer is - in a word - AWESOME. Smooth, power everywhere, no hiccups, no ding in fuel mileage compared to stock...just a better all-around program. Turns it into the bike its always wanted to be. |

Ok, thanks guys for the input! Winter is raging still up here in the northern parts of the world but within a month or so i will experience the true power of the Erik Buell Racing ECM. Until then, may the force be with you! |

ECM-SPY is a great bit of kit (a big "thank you" to all the developers) but it MUST be used with care. Be sure you understand how it works and back-up your std map before making any changes to it. With the pre DDFI-3 bikes it will, for the lead cost, pay for itself on TPS resets alone over a dealer charge. I am not sure but I think you can only use it on DDFI-2 bikes and DDFI-3 is dealer only. I do not think these bikes make all that much more power with a better can/air filter etc upgrade. What does happen though is that it will sound better. The engine becomes more powerful as it runs in. Its best done the "old school" way slow and easy. It is, after all said and done, an old iron lump and maybe this is the problem some have had in the past. |
