I am looking at buying the last new 09 in CA. Got them to discount around to 9g before tax9.75 where I live, license and freight.. I see used ones for the 6xxx range but I like to start new and a low mile out of state bike can't be registered in CA. Should I look at a different brand if buying new? |

It comes down to how bad do you want it. 9g's is a lot for a Uly these day's, new or not. That said, you are in commi-fornia. There is a price to be paid for that. They(the dealer) are using supply and demand on you. Very little CA supply, and they are willing to wait for someone who wants it enough to pay it. The warranty that comes with a new bike is nice. That said, having an 09, I'm am very happy with the bike. I feel grateful to be able to get it. You will love the bike, and the joy it gives you. If I was in your position, and had the money to spend, I'd go for it. - Or move out of state and buy a good used one. Even at 9 grand, it will still be the best money to grin factor you can get for a new bike! Get them to throw in the comfort kit if you buy it. Good luck! |

Just bought the out of state 2009 XT ten days ago. 2400 miles, $6000. Rode home from BFE. Now almost up to 5000 miles. By the time the out of state temp. registration runs out in three weeks, I will have the required 7500 miles and be able to get the SoCal DMV to smile. Yep, first owner put on 2400 miles in a year. Me? 5000 miles in the first month. Oh, the things we do... A 50% premiun for brand spankin' new? It's your dough, so go for it. |

Remember Tom, California Law prevents you from licensing an out of state bike unless it has at least 10 k miles on it. The dealer has you by the balls. husky |

Unless the law has changed, it was 7500 miles for a non CA emission bike. This dealer is sitting on this one knowing it is the last one in the state. I have been working on him for about 6 weeks. He has met my last offer of 9g which he wasn't willing to do a month ago. A new KTM or BMW ect will run me closer to 16g otd. I see Buells for sale and am not sure if it is support concern or dissapointment in the bike? Tom |

While the $9k might seem high compared to other lo-mi. used examples, the price is still down from what it originally retailed for, not that you couldn't have negotiated that price down as well back then...maybe. What else in the $9k price range appeals as strongly to you? The Honda NT700V/"Doo-ville" sells in the same price range...so do several metric cruisers. None have the perma-grin factor that a Buell gives. "and a low mile out of state bike can't be registered in CA." Is this because it lacks an evap canister/emissions stuff? So if I were to move to CA from another state, could I register my bike or would I have to go through an add'l cost to get it corrected, inspected and passed? |

$9,000 for a bike they don’t manufacture anymore, from a company that’s not in business anymore? And the clock’s ticking as we speak, on parts availably. . |

Tigertom, If all you need is 7,500 miles, there are used bikes out there that would work. Check the clssifieds, CL, etc. I thought the bike had to be X number of years old before you could bring it in. There seems to be a fair number of used Uly's selling here on BWB. Watch and wait if you don't want to pony up the 9 g's. Like you said you can get a nice farkled one in the high 6 - 7 grand mark. |

7,500 miles kinda changes the picture then and that makes the $9k feel 'diffurnt' and not as comfortable for the new one. |

It's worth $9k. For sure people have gotten better deals (I did), but that doesn't change the value proposition of the bike. So if it bugs you to know somebody else got one cheaper, don't buy it. If you can find a better deal, jump on it. If not, you won't have any problem getting $9k of fun out of that $9k bike. |

Reepicheap+1 You will get much more than 9G's of fun out of it. And spending 15K+ for a BMW or something else will not have close to the fun-to-cash ratio the Uly does. |

I would buy it! I bought mine 12/31/2009 $8495.00 before tax, etc. you still get two years warranty you will be able to find parts here, ebay or dealers. remember there are much older bikes out there with parts supplies that have dried up, still on the road, still running. I love my 2009 Uly...... |

I paid 13,700 for my 2008 XT. while I would have loved to have waited 6 months received a better deal, I am not sorry about the money I spent on the XT. I even bought another bike to use as a commuter so I can keep the XT for a long time. |

I agree with everybody pretty much. A bike on the road is worth two on the showroom floor. I paid 8k for a used 2008 Uly just last year. It did have a few nice bits and pieces to include full HB luggage and Remus can. Bottom line I could have saved a little money by looking longer and harder, or I could have missed out on a well sorted slightly used X. Go for it, the extra money won't seem like a big deal in two years. |

I don't know US laws, but as far as I know the only difference on the bike is the carbon canister, if you bought one and get it installed woulden't it, sort out the law about emissions? |

CA emissions are what they are. I think my biggest question IS are most of the bikes for sale a fear of parts and support or a disappointment in the product? Tom |

A lot of people are selling their bikes because they are broke, and need the money / need to cut expenses. Some are worried about parts, but not too many are disappointed in the Uly's. The 06's have had some teething pains, but 09's have been great as far as I can tell. The fuel pump fuse being the only issue that seems to pop occasionally. |

I am hanging on to my '06 Uly, but it was paid for almost 5 years ago (and bought used with 1,050 miles for $8600 w/o luggage). However, I personally would not be wiling to be $9K for a new Buell today, unless I felt that I just HAD to have a Buell specifically. I'd go used. Too many other choices out there that will still be around for years, and not make you scrounge around for support and parts. I've got my eye on the Tiger 800, but, as I said, I am keeping my Buell because it's paid for, and it still works. No need to lock in a loss by selling it now when prices have been pushed down. I like my bike and like owning a Buell, but I would not have bought it if I had known that H-D would kill them off. No regrets, as I have no crystal ball. It all boils down to your mindset. Many enjoy the challenges of keeping older bikes on the road. I'd rather spend that time riding, and an '06 Buell is not an "older bike" in my mind. |

Thanks Electraglider. The one is in my backyard but he is asking $9500. I will offer $7,800 and if he takes it I get the bags and goodies. |

Just sent an email with an offer of $7500. Basically the same bike I was going to buy broke in and full luggage and some warranty left for about 2250 less after tax and licence. Still have to pay tax on used bikes in CA. Plus the convience of not having to fly down to Southern CA. I live in Pleasanton. |

Buy it new. 9g for a 13g bike is still a fire sale. In a few years, you'll have a wonderful collector's item and every mile on the bike will be yours. |

some ofThe 06's have had some teething pains Fixed it for ya My 06, with 20k non-gentle miles, has snapped a belt (driver-induced) and I've replaced the 77 connector. Oh, and the oil cooler leaked and was replaced under warranty. If you like the bike you're looking at, and its worth it to you...buy it. Forget the "market price" and go with your gut. I "overpaid" for my S1W a few years ago according to the book...but according to my bank account, that specific bike and its condition and low miles (a '98, in '06, with 1,100 miles)...I got a smokin' deal. And people keep saying "if I'd known HD was going to shut them down, I wouldn't have bought"....why? Is it not still a good product that's easy to maintain? I know I have no qualms about taking mine out - from my 16 year old S2 to my 16 month old CR - and beating the living snot out of them. They love it...and so do I |

Buy it and don't look back. You have some great roads to ride around your area and close by. |
