Yesterday I rode the sweet Uly over nearby 10,001 ft. Kenosha Pass. Temps were in the 30's. But it's a dry cold. Ha!

Here's a few images from the scoot, with a ride video at the end.

This would be the only dirt the Uly would taste on this ride. About halfway along on the driveway...

First pause is on the southside of the pass. About seven years ago I paused here on a bike I miss dearly... an '02 Cyclone M2...

Well, I didn't stand in the exact spot, but the high meadows of South Park are below with the 13,000 ft. sentinels of the Mosquito Range in the distance...

Rode towards the icy and snow cloud topped monarchs, coaxing the Uly to pause for a pic. Actually, I needed more coaxing in the biting wind, and left the bike idling so the heated grips would stay sizzlin!

Now, until 1937 the only motorized access to "The Park" was by narrow gauge train. Here's the Jefferson Depot in 1937 just before the rails were pulled up...

The small community of Jefferson (Pop 15) remains, as does the depot. The power line poles march off into the distance on the old train bed. If in the area on U.S. 285 passing through Jefferson, the caboose serves decent food as you sit outside (my kind of place), and the small country market (unseen) on the other side of the highway is reknown for their fudge...

I rode down nearby County 77 (The Tarryall Road) to let the modern day horse pause next to its four legged kin. I'm keeping those heated grips on!!!

That's 13,822 ft. Mt. Silverheels on the left. It was named after a dance hall lady who looked after miners 150 years ago when they contracted small pox. She wore silver heels...

Ya know, I've been in the area for almost 25 years and not a whole lot has changed. The onboard video here is of the lonely and riding divine Tarryall Road as I head towards South Park and Jefferson. The icy and meandering Tarryall Creek accompanies, as do deep blue skies, craggy rocks, and frozen fields. The whispers of abandoned homesteads and cabins are heard as you fly by. Oh, and the Buell exhaust note is captured as well...

Nice...
I'm in Longmont, haven't been able to get out of my driveway for a week.
I'm tired of Winter. : (

As usual Sfarson, beautiful pics! Thanks for posting them.

That M2 pic is one I saved for a desktop backround since you first posted it way back when.

I passed up its clone a few years ago because the seller would not meet my offer of $4400. It rode well and had only a few thousand miles on it.
I know I made a mistake that day.

I do that ride very often. Last time was this past November before the snows came up there. Great pics.

I stayed in Jefferson a couple of years ago up on Michigan Hill, directly north of Jefferson. The memories of Colorado make me want to mount up and ride off never to be see again. It is only two days away by car....

Everybody I met out there was very friendly and seemingly happy.

That M2 looks great and you have a good eye for a picture. Here is an update of one of yours.

I didn't watch the video until just now and that is the route I took to go from Jefferson to Pikes Peak, Thanks for the memories! My trip to Pikes Peak in a van with no brakes!
So is Tarryall Rd also known as Kenosha Pass?

Hey thanks all. Another fine ride delivered by the Uly. And thanks for making me miss the Cyclone even more!

Swampy... I rode over Kenosha Pass (U.S. 285) first, then kinda toured the area, wandering the Michigan and Tarryall Roads before returning for a warm burger at the Jefferson store. The Tarryall Road to Lake George and Pikes Peak country is outstanding. I rave about it in my book on motorcycling Colorado. It's a massive thing at the publisher now, appearing at Amazon, dealers, etc. in May.

If you don't mind a 2005 vintage video, here's another January ride on the Tarryall Road, from Jefferson south to Lake George on U.S. 24...

Wow, loved the music although I missed the note of the engine. Then again the drone of a BMW isn't near as nice as the drumming of a Buell! A couple of the photo's above look like black and white's with the air box cover colored in. The overcast sky's made for a nice effect.
