the Uly runs good in cold weather! I rode yesterday, with my heated gear, to work and back home 24 degrees out yesterday morning!

In some parts of the country, they unfortunately have to talk in terms of "the riding season". The mid-Atlantic area shouldn't be one of them! My H-D dealer sends me emails saying stuff like, "Make sure your bike is stored properly for the winter," or "Although the riding season is over, don't forget to come in and visit us from time to time!"

I just wait for the right road conditions, bundle up, and laugh...

From last winter:

I with you on the whole "Riding Season" thing. We do get alot of snow over here (Ice and snow on the ground for the last 2 weeks)and most of my friends put their bikes away and turn off the insurance until April. I myself ride until it snows, then stay off until it rains to wash the salt off the road and I'm back on regardless of temperature. Last year I was only sidelined for about 8 weeks total.

My Uly loves the cold temps. I just stuff a rag in the oil cooler intake, kick on the heated grips and vest and it's summer again.

10" of snow coming Sat and the next day, -11 deg! The old Uly will be hibernating in the shed till Spring, thank-you. I've really enjoyed the cooler rides late into this pleasant Fall we've had this year, I will take 45-60 deg over 90-100 any day.

It's been getting up to near 50 lately, down to 20 at night.
I had a rag in the oil cooler scoop but the fan came on yesterday so I took it out.

This is a little cooler than my ideal riding temperature but nowhere near my limit yet.
I want to see a minus sign on the AT screen of my 1125R this Winter.

Ha ha, EG...I wish! (or do I? It probably has terrible insulation.)

That's Oakland Manor, near Columbia, MD. In the mid-1800s, the owner's son led a sporting mounted militia and often paraded them on the home's grounds. When the Civil War hit, the members decided they weren't going to pledge allegiance to the Union, and hit the road for Virginia and the Confederate army.

One of the best things about living and riding in the DC area is all the Civil War sites scattered around the countryside.

25 degrees at my house in Richmond, VA this morning, but the poor XT was calling my name. Had to hold my hands under warm water at work my fingers hurt so bad. Time for some warmer gloves and a battery tender! I love the double takes I get at stoplights, though.

Stay warm out there.

Buellyxt, people are probably looking behind you for the funeral procession they think you're leading! Maybe get an XP and really perplex them.

13 degrees on my commute yesterday morning. People looked at me like I was crazy but it's all in how you dress.

Not so cold but seriously wet yesterday. Entered a large puddle (small lake) at a reasonable speed, much deeper than I expected, panicked a little, goosed it. Water OVER the windshield into my lap. Dry as a bone (good gear). Bike running just as smoothly as ever! I wish I had a picture of my face when I saw that cresting wave over my tall windscreen...

It was 29 when I left my house Wed morning here in central FL... Cold with humidity is no fun, but I still rode, just put on the leather.

Rode Saturday morning, the temps were below the thaw-line, but the sun was shining and after 3 hours, the temps climbed to around 40. A great day to put in over 100 miles. Today in Denver, the weather was incredible, rode the PM and couldn't have asked for better temps. Feels like the Uly loves all that cool clean air!

Just got a First Gear Expedition suit to keep me comfy. Played with it last night...all armor velcroed and adjustable. Is heavy but I am sitting, right? Still debating whether to keep it or go to a jacket/pant like Olympia AST or something else.

Who rides with a suit? Who went back to jacket/pants from a suit? Why? Thanks
