When I bought my Uly it had what i believe to be Acerbis Rally 2 hand guards on it. THESE Now I like the way these work but they do not keep much wind off of my hands. Now that it is getting colder it is very noticeably. The little flap seems to blow the wind directly onto my hand. Any ideas on new hand guards that will actually block the wind? I know the stock ones work but I am having issues on finding them. | ||

+1 on the Barkbusters. The Barkbuster Storm, I believe, is what I have. THey make a few, these are the larger. They protect my hands from the rain and wind pretty well, better than the stock. | ||

I got a pair of XB9XS stock ones on my ULY along with the Tour-A-Tec extensions together they block the wind pretty good | ||

I have the OEM guards on The Beast. It was still chilly in the mornings last May when I got it. The guards work but let some cold to my hands. First mod was to add some material to the top. I found some 4" wide truck taillight covers in the garage and hit the bandsaw. Drilled some holes, popped in some 8-32 hardware and voila -  Makes a HUGE difference those chilly mornings. Zack | ||

These work for me. Cut out an old face shield and velcro to the stockers. I take them off in the warmer weather.  | ||

Last night I installed my new PowerMadd handguard gauntlets over the stock Uly handguards. They are super easy to install, about 2 minutes per side. The nice thing about these as opposed to any other gauntlets I've tried (on my snowmobiles) is that they stay open so it's easy to get your hands into them. http://www.powermadd.com/products/HandguardGauntle tSNO.html I suffer from Renaud's so riding in temps below 70 degrees F I can lose circulation in my fingers (even with very thick insulated gloves). I use WarmGear heated gloves, and the combo of the heated grips and the electric gloves works for me pretty well until it gets down to about the lower 30's, then I have to wiggle my fingers as much as possible. I'm looking forward to trying the Uly with these gauntlets, hopefully tomorrow. I know from many years of snowmobiling that if I really want warm hands, gauntlets are the way to go. I'm betting that light gloves and the handwarmers on low will be all I need with my new setup. I'll try to post pics at some point. | ||

I got a chance to try my PowerMadd gauntlets yesterday & they were great. Easy access to all the controls, and of course excellent wind protection. It won't be long though and I'll be switching them over to my snowmobile  | ||

FYI, those aluminum bark busters take well to Powder coating. I have a cheep Eastwood powder coating system. I have done several bark busters on dirt bikes. Only hard crashes in rocks damage the coating. Tree hits don't bother the powder coating at all. | ||

I am still sold on my stocks, the only thing I did was replace the cheap plastic barends with aluminum barend weights. I contacted one of the companies I saw advertising on here. They hadn't made any before so I gave them the dimentions where the guard snaps on and they had them knocked out in a couple days. They really helped with the bar vibrations at lower rpms too... now their making me a heavier set of stainless ones. Rock On.. Good folks on BadWeb | ||

Romanrider Did you keep the stock plastic hand guard cover on the Uly or did you have to remove for this gauntlet cover system to work? Also, what model gauntlet from Power Madd did you use on the Uly? Thanks for the update and a good find. | ||

I kept the stock hand guards on, just had to temporarily pop them off of the bar ends to slide the elastic strap over the guard. They are p/n PM14258, shown on pg 7 of their online catalog. Here are some pics, please excuse the background clutter.     | ||

Riding it the teens, you'll still need pretty warm gloves or heated grips but the gauntlets should help a lot. No heated grips here and I did over a hundred miles between stops with winter gloves on last Sunday morning when the temps were still in the low 30's and my hands were fine. Wore my Buell race gloves yesterday afternoon and my hands were beginning to feel cold after about seventy miles with temps in mid-30's.. Thanks to Romanrider for posting  | ||

Thanks to romanrider and his detailed pictures I too have acquired a set of Powermadd handlebar gauntlets. got em last week and still riding but a bit more selective which days I choose to ride. They really keep your hands in still air up to the mid sleeve, nice! I just wonder if they will still be on the bike when I get done working. I barely allow myself enough time to de gear and punch in on time !  | ||

In my case I have heated grips so only the top half of my hands have been freezing. Now I just hope the snow stays away. | ||

I just got a pair of Hippo Hands from a fellow BWBer. Like the Power Madds but simpler to mount. I like them so much, they are staying on the Beast until June. Haven't ridden the 1125R in a week or two - can't stay off the Uly.   Z That thing stuck to the mirror is an H-D thermometer I stuck there, 35*F at the time. My PowerMadd's have arrived and are installed. Slightly bunchy around the front brake reservoir, but otherwise, not bad. I need the roads to not be icy and then I can try them out. | ||

 Here's the Palmer Products handguard extensions they keep the wind off the top off your hands and the wind from going up your wrist. But when it gets cold these come out.  |
