I have been fortunate enough to come up with a 2009 XB12XP, in white, with all the equipment except the front light bar and the siren. The cool thing is that it's technically new! It has only 9 miles on it and it's never been registered. I don't have the bike here yet, I have to ship it to Dallas from where I got it, but should have it in about 10 days. Since I'm an independent used motorcycle dealer, as well as a previous owner of three Uly's, I'm sure you'll have opinions and be willing to share them. I wonder what your opinion of the retail value of this bike might be. When it gets here, I'll post pictures.
I gave just a little over 8k for my 07 XB12X 3 months ago, had 17 miles never registered. I am guessing you could get a little more because of the year and the rarity of an XP.
XB9 gearing 2010 Rider Comfort Kit Gobi panniers Precision Engineering 1" risers HVMP Bar Ends Laminar Lip with custom windshield mounting system New belt New black seal rear bearings Galfer rear brake pads Touratech wind spoilers on hand guards Optronics driving lights X peak Signal Dynamics LED voltage monitor Palmer isolator mount option Two looks - red & black plastics (air box cover, fly screen & dirt modded front fender - have originals in good condition)
Itileman, The trade should be yours = xp + 1000 bucks and not the other way around. The only thing I see on yours I wouldn't like is that paper thin seat and it's too low to the ground for my taste. Otherwise, nice setup.
My thoughts exactly EG. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but XP's are basically the same as X's with just a few added accessories like the lights and small profile luggage.
1. Top and side cases 2. Tall windshield 3. Birch White Air Box 4. This specific bike has had the top and side boxes painted half&half white/black 5. LED light pods mounted on the front of the hand guards. 6. XP specific wiring harness 7. theres probably more, but I have'nt discovered it yet...
The only pictures I have, yet, are copyright protected and I can't get them loaded onto this site, yet.
Also the ECM has some different data on it, the engine cuts out at a certain speed and when the bike idles more than a couple of minutes the fan comes on at low speed. Not like the comfort kit reflash. It also has reduced stator output. Mine is all black!
Thanks Court. It would be nice to hear the differences just to know. I think my XP is exactly the same as an X with no changes other than the cop harness, tall screen and white color. Other than that, it's no different. Correct?
The best way to determine the difference . . and the source of my information. . is to go through the parts lists for both models and do an "A-B" comparison.
I bought most the XP parts just to see what they were.
I'm frankly surprised the bike didn't garner more favor as it would be an excellent law enforcement platform.
The parts list has a different beak (front fender) number for the XP. It came in white or black or combination of the two. check Part#'s to verify correct parts. To the original post. The lights on the front light bar are Whelen TIR6 LED's they are not designed for "always on" use. Procuring clear lens for these lights will be next to impossible without buying whole light heads AMHIK. Save yourself the time and get some good offroad lights, it will cost about the same.
The XP is an X, with: Outdoorsman bags and racks (topcase was part of the response kit, lights and siren) Extra overlay wiring for lighting and siren controls XT windshield Available in either white, or black, bodywork The Y bracket on the left front of the engine was different, with a tab welded on to hold the siren support cage Top speed governor in the ECM
That's it.
The bikes shipped without top cases or handguards, they were part of the response kit. The rear turn signals were already relocated because the bikes had the Outdoorsman side cases installed (the topcase RACK was installed, just no box).
The difference in the beak was the difference between black or charcoal gray; I forget which way it went. I think the X has (barely) gray as OEM, the XT has black...but since the XT has an XB front fender there was no beak to match the black XT handguards, so they made one.
The response kit was 100% plug and play. The overlay harness on the bike had connectors behind the flyscreen, under the seat, and at the Y bracket for the items. Power for the kit was sourced from the underseat aux outlet; the flyscreen had connectors for the handguard lights, fork lights, takedown lights, and control button. There was also a connector at the triple tail for the rear lights that mounted to the topcase.
Mapping, aside from the speed limiter, was identical to an X or XP.
Thanks, that's about what I was thinking. As soon as it get's here, I'll post some pics, and the adv, for sale. Oh, and I'll be riding it everyday until someone buys it. Maybe I should ask about $20G's, then I could ride it for a loooooooooong time. lol
I was thinking about purchasing the Police/EMT light kit from the guy on ebay. I was thinking that it was a plug and play application, is this not the case? After mounting all the lights and such I was thinking the harness would plug, but it sounds like there would be splicing involved, what is the deal. I'm retired Law Enforcement and ride with the Blue Knights, I would use the lights strictly as a novelty so it's not really important.

I have the kit, it is still missing a few pieces that only come on the XP, like the special wiring harness and different bracket for the right side scoop/siren.
