I worked a deal about 3 weeks ago to trade my '09 1125r even up for an '08 XT. The trade took place today.

Other than the battery being low from sitting (perish the thought), a quick charge and a 50 mile ride later in 42 degree temps, I'll say I'm convinced....this is by FAR the BEST Buell I've ever ridden!

I love the comfy stock seat, the heated grips-especially today (on low), super soft cushy suspension-and I haven't even taken the time to set it for my weight yet. I was so anxious to go for a ride, I didn't even check the air pressure (which later I found to be at 30/30) it was a little squirlly.

I look forward to many more miles on this new ride, I just hope it will be a little warmer when it happens!

Thanks to Michael for the trade!

I couldn't agree more, Toona. I LOVE my 08XT! I sat in the garage this evening, after cleaning the bugs off my Uly, following a super 140 mile ride in great, chilly (for us) weather, just admiring the bike and feeling good! I know how you feel!

Toona,
It sounds like your really enjoying your new bike.
Other than being a little cool it was nice enough for some 2 up action on my Uly this morning and then some solo miles on my UlySSes this afternoon.
I've got a full set of heated gear on my Christmas wish list.

Congrats on the new bike, Toona, the old geezer buells may be in the majority at the next Res Run

Once we got there, we didn't have any problem going 2-up on the dirty ol' Big Bird this year : )

The Ulysses is a super-capable platform. You have an 08, so you've already got the progressive fork springs. Those, and my Erik Buell Racing ECM, are the only real farkles that I consider to be "must have's" on my '06.

Although...if you know somebody good working with metal, you should suggest they start making replacement saddlebag latches so those of us who use our bikes all the time can cross one item off the daily "worry" list ; )

Yes indeed, two-up high speed touring was the order of the day last year, my first year attending on a geezer buell. Great ride - I had a blast!

Thanks for the compliments on the Res Ride. Y'all can start planning again for next years ride Memorial Day weekend in Altoona, PA!

Re: bag latches, I'll have to look at them a little closer to see what's involved in making a replacement version out of metal. My Haas cnc mill needs something do!

Hi, may name is Brad and I'm a Uly convert.

Toona, I couldn't agree more.
My only regret is I didn't snap up one of the XT's when they were available, mine is an 06 X. I've got short legs.......

My S2 doesn't get ridden much anymore. Still keeping it and the M2 but the Uly get the vast lions share of miles...

I have an '06 Uly and an '09 1125R. They are both great machines...but I have told many people that if I could only own one bike, it would be the Uly...hands down! If fact...I recently added a 2008 Uly to the stable because I needed (wanted) a backup for my favorite bike!

Brad,

You say that introduction like you're at an AA meeting...

Come to think of it, with the kind of time I've been spending with mine, I may need some 12-step help here shortly to get back in to the house.

I took delivery of my first Uly in Sept 2005. Loved it, great bike, lots of fun miles and adventures. Than the 1125R was announced. Big powerful Rotax, the latest greatest Buell I just had to have it. I traded my 2006 Uly on the my 1125R. Fun bike to ride but I really missed the Uly. When HD closed Buell I just had to buy a new Uly before they were gone. It was time to replace my 2007 Can-am Renegade 800, I really liked the 2010 model, but I had to have a Uly. So replacing the ATV will just have to wait. I purchased a new 2009 XB12X on 12/31/2009. Hey, Erik is a racer at heart but look what his everyday ride is…a Ulysses. He must be an addict also.

And the Big Bad and Dirty board is soooo much more civilized, despite the name.

Toona,
Good for you. Hope you enjoy the ride for a long time. About time you joined the rest of us. Like Twobuells I got my 06 in Sept. of 05 and rode it almost every day until May of 09 when I traded it in on a new one out in your neck of the woods. Although I have been without mine four the good part of the last 6 months I will not get rid of it. I am lucky enough to have 3 buells that I love to ride. If I had to have only one it would be the Uly X.

1. Admitted I was powerless over the power of the Uly, and that my life had become full of curves.

2. Came to believe that a power greater than myself(ERIK BUELL), could restore me (And Buell Riders), to sanity.

3. Made a decision to turn my will and my pocket book over to the care of God(ERIK) as I understand Erik Buell Racing.

4. ..........

As a real life 12 stepper, I laughed my ass off reading those posts. Maybe tonight I'll share them with some of my anonymous friends. : )

Wolfie, I did ride yours around Mid Ohio, but I had a control rider close by, so I had to behave myself

Not quite the same as street riding.

I have to confess riding my X on stairs.
Yup.
Either upstairs or down, it doesn't matter. At first it was just a little flight of two or three steps and it was sooo fun. Then I had to have longer flights of stairs in order to get the rush, ya know? I know what you're thinking - what about the stress on the belt - right? I never even give it a thought till after. Then the guilt sets in and it's awful. Makes me feel so bad that I try to think of some way to feel better. A little later I'll be riding along and see some stairs that lead to a way to get to where I was going anyway and WEEEEEHAAAA!

I have not set tread on steps for three weeks.
