Thought I saw a picture of this somewhere, but I was considering cutting up some black silicone cooking sheets and fitting them to the outside of the frame on my XT. Dual purpose to provide a little heat relief from the frame and provide a grippier feel when maneuvering. The issue would be having a reliable adhesive for strong bond, but something that could be cleaned up if I ever decide to remove or replace them.

Target supposedly has these sheets for $10 each, and there are options like weather stripping adhesive, contact cement, etc.

Cut well these would look pretty sweet.

Thoughts?

I wrote about this some time ago and even bought a silicone sheet that is now on my kitchen counter. I never really followed through with the idea. Glue won't stick to that stuff or anything else that I can think of.

There is this product available. Has anyone tried it?

Haven't tried the skins on a Uly, but the product works very well on a sportbike gas tank. A little vibration absorption and really allows your leathers to adhere and hold you in place. It can be kind of annoying in jeans, when the pants stick in place and you still slide.

Might work well on the Uly where sliding about is not a real problem. Can't say if there's much heat protection as the R6's tank does not really get too warm anyway. There'll probably still be heat, but not searing as the frame/tank can get.

Home made grip pads. Look good, and was cheap for the guy to make.

I like the American Sport Bike grip skins a lot. They are very... grippy.

I concur. Those skins provide something to lock onto.

That's the ticket. Wouldn't think any adhesive would want to stick to the silicone. Looks like these skins have some thickness too. Perfect.
