I only have experience with the Angel STs, as they came on my XT and are still good with a little over 5,000 miles on them. The only issue is some cupping on the front tire from my 3,000 mile ride to and from Homecoming this year. Hot highway miles and maybe low air pressure I suppose are the culprits. I will either stick with these next time or try the PR2s everyone seems to like.

A word on the TKC 80s.

So far I have not noticed any ON ROAD difference between the TKC and the previous Metzelers I had on before. City driving, or highway driving (note that due to 160km/h speed rating on the I now have to watch my speedo).

We shall see as they wear if this is still the case.

Additionally, I can say that they are VERY slippery on wet painted surfaces. The fat white stripes at stop lights will give you a wiggle if your not carfull when accelerating from standstill. However, Once moving they seem fine.

Also note that tire pressure is an important factor to verify in tire milege. A hard tire wear differently than a softer tire and has differnet properties.

Regarding the scorpions, this is a tire that NEEDS to be kept inflated hard because it has a tendancy to heat very easily with lower pressures. I beleive this is why tire rating are often all over the map, it depends on what pressure they are running them at.

THe TKC 80s are a prime example. The tire says max inflate 35PSI, however BMW models with TKC 80s on them stock says that they need to be kept over 40PSI at all times or they will wear too quick. you also want knobbies to be hard to avoid knob wiggle during steeper angled turns.

my $0.02CAD, still close to par

Thanks Dynasport - we'll watch the Angels & "see how they run" - not to be confused with blind mice. Mattmcc00 - The TKCs arent something most Uly owners have experience with - at least on Uly's. Had them on my Tiger and your right about pressures. If ya pay attention to that - they're pretty good on wear & great in the dirt! So what do you run up front ?... And how do they behave together ??

I just put 4000 miles on a new set of Angles (Birmingham, AL to Crested Butte, CO) installed on my XT. I'm very pleased with the wear. Very good grip dry and wet. Smooth transition into the corners. Performed well on maintained dirt roads and decent fire roads. Not so much on heavy duty off road or mud. I ride mostly on the street - I'll likely buy a second set when needed.

I just put a set of Angels on this weekend and love them.

Of course there is nothing more satisfying than a new pair of shoes

Of course I could not find my rim protectors anywhere and scratched my rims, So I touched them up with a little touch up paint and they look just fine now so I am mister happy all the way around now!

Just ordered our second set of Angels. The first set replaced the stock tires at about 6 or 7k, we slapped them on prior to the FL to MN to FL journey this summer. Went to start up the bike for work this morning and noticed the dreaded cords showing on the rear tire. "Hmmm...guess I'll be taking the beemer today!" I'm happy with the performance, rode in all kinds of adventurous road conditions and weather and they performed admirably for 9K miles. Waaaaaayy better mileage than the scorp syncs I've been putting on the city x. Waiting for that magical visit from the big brown Christmas truck!!!
