Dominic,
Those are both very good deals.
I would get that 08 model today, only 1500 miles, should be like new.

Yes they are good prices the 06 with the tank bra looks like it has been laid down not that i care as long as the damage is very minor. I like the 08 as well, but like I said before we have to work something out on my trade.

The dealer's revised prices are much more realistic now. Quite good, actually. In case you're interested, there's a couple threads here which detail the differences in the '06-07 models versus the '08-09. Here's a nice one:

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/372582.html

I'm completely happy with my '06, but I will probably upgrade my fork spring at some point as the '06 set up likes to dive.

Dfera- Ray Price had two other Ulys upstairs.(two weeks ago) 07's I think. You need to ask a salesperson to go up there. Those prices sound real good. They serve free Koolaid!!!}

Hey Guys, Took a trip to Ray Price HD today and the 08 Black Uly for 1500 ($5895) miles was gone.
They had one 06 upstairs with 15,000 miles and luggage for $7,995 according the tag on the bike even though the online price from Cycletrader listed the bike at $3995 (there is also a video clip on cycle trader with a narrator confirming this $3,995 price). There were some scuffs looks like maybe the bike was dropped, IDK, but really nothing bad at all. Tires looked in great shape damn near new. Would you believe I forgot to look at the rear wheel bearing on both bikes! friggen stupid me! I was sort of pressed for time.
http://www.cycletrader.com/find/listing/2006-Buell -Xb12x-96271947

Then I took a look at the other Uly with 53k miles on it. The bike was in a garage downstairs. This bike was surprising, it looked cleaner than I thought it would but didn't look detailed like the dealership tried to go out of their way to clean it up. Also no luggage. The front tire is worn pretty bad I think, also worn more on the left side than the center or the right, it should be replaced. This bike felt a little taller than the other bike, but still comfortable, could the other bike be an 07? The seats looked and felt different. Also the brake pads could be replaced in a couple thousand more miles, both front and rear looked more than three quarters gone. This bike is oddly also listed at $3,995 on cycle trader although the tag on the bike stated $5,995, could just be no one updated the price on the either bike.
I did have sense enough to take some video of the 53k bike. If you guys don't mind take a look and let me know if it sounds ok, it is idling normal? I can tell you it started right up no problems just like my Sporty. Also it ran really rich the smell of fuel was really bad I thought. Again all I can compare it to is my Sporty. If you guys tell me that it's normal I'm good with it, but I just don't know.

Look forward to your input

Both bikes are 06's, the top one has the accessory low seat, the bottom one stock.

Even though I have my xt for sale,
Ray Price HD has a 03 bmw k1200gt
I would trade even, and not bat an eye.
(I used to have a 00 bmw k12rs, they rock)

That 50K bike looks awesome. Someone took great care of it.
I would make a lowball offer on it!

Just go though it when you get it home.
New black bearings, "77" connector.... Etc

Oldwesterncowboy: Your Uly is nice looking but I have a trade to contend with. Man I hope you sell her. My wife has been out of work since this past Feb, part of the reason I'm looking for something cheaper now. BMW makes a nice bike, but I like their horizontally opposed engine myself.

So you guys check out the video clip I posted of the 53k bike? I know it’s probably hard to tell because of the low quality video but did it sounds ok? Do they run rich normally? The smell of fuel after just idling was really bad.

Thanks
Dom

Hulygrin and Dfera - if you're interested in meeting up with other Buell riders in NC, check out Carolina Corner Carvers. We just had a great ride in VA this past weekend...3 Buells, 1 Dual Sport, 1 Kawi and 1 Road King! Weather, company and roads were excellent!

The video you took of the Uly idling sounded like mine. They don't like to sit there, but instead give you the impression that they want to get moving. Someone once said that a Uly idling sounds like a horse chomping at the bit. But mine never smells like gas. That is odd.

Can someone else give it a listen too? It's hard to tell which of the pictures is the video link, but it's the one that the Uly is sitting in a doorway and the photo is stretched.

Thanks I should have mentioned that the first pic after I talk about the 53k bike is actually a video clip. I guess I thought a play symbol would show up telling everyone which one it is.

Dfera - The Uly with 53K miles used to be my bike.

The story behind the bike is that an exhaust valve "dropped" and damaged the top end of the engine. The folks at the dealership went to bat for me with HD and convinced them that that was too early for an engine failure, and HD agreed to pay for repairs even though the bike was out of warranty.

I didn't want to be with out a bike while the engine was being rebuilt, so I traded it in on another 06 Uly they had (which had only 12k miles.)

So the bike has 53k Miles, which is a lot, but it has a new top end in the motor, a new charging system, the fuel pump fix, new wheel bearings, and some other stuff I don't remember off the top of my head.

JInance: man that is awesome to hear. I will send you a PM to pick your brain about the bike sometime.

I tried to offer $2500 but they would budge. Another salesman called me and I offered $3200 out the door but haven't heard back yet. They seem pretty set we'll see...

Why not go for the bike with luggage and 35 thousand less miles, listed at the same price of 4 grand? No need to low ball, just buy it.

Is it just me, or does that price seem well below market value?

You could recoup some of the price by selling the luggage and racks getting you closer to that low ball offer of $3200 you put on the other Uly.

Because one salesman told me that bike is pending sale, just waiting for the new owner to pick it up

I looked at the one with 53,000 miles on Saturday and it looks pretty good. I did notice the right fork seal is leaking. You should mention that if you make another offer.
