I'm taking two bikes (Uly and 1125R) to Southern Utah for a week of riding. I'm driving down with all my camping gear and was planning on camping somewhere around Kanab.

Anyone ride around Kanab, and if so, have any suggestions for great 1125R roads as well as good gravel roads for the Uly. Oh, I have a buddy up in Torrey and will be staying with him for a couple of days too. I hear there are some great roads there too. All suggestions are appreciated. I couldn't settle on one bike so decided to take both!

Alt 89 is also a great paved ride. Take a run to Flagstaff, AZ for another mind bender.

A couple of years ago my wife and I took our bikes out to Southern Utah. I did a lot of research on places to stay and road rides before we went. I found a great book on the area called Motorcycle Journeys Through the Southwest by Marty Burke. He gives great info on places to camp and all the road rides in the area. He even gives info on places to eat. I would suggest it. It covers Utah, Colo, New Mexico, and Arizona. http://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Journeys-Through- Southwest-Martin/dp/0962183490

Sharkguy, I just ordered the book. That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the tip!

I spent three days running around that area last summer on my Guzzi. Zion is one of the most incredible places I've ever ridden. The road through the park is a must do. I still get a smile on my face remembering that bit.

Bryce Canyon is nice if you have the time/inclination to hop off at the pull outs and take in the view, otherwise there's not much to see from the road.

When you head up to Torrey take Hwy 12 through the Grand Staircase-Escalante and Dixie National Forest. Lots of corner carving goodness and beautiful views, snaking along ridge-lines and diving into canyons, ah bliss.

Here's a vid I shot riding through Zion.

And my ride report from another forum I frequent.

++ 0n Hwy 12. Watch out for deer, elk, and free range cattle. We saw all three! Here are a few pics if I can get them to upload.

This is killing me! It's been raining and cold all weekend and supposed to do the same tomorrow. So, here I set at the computer. Washed all 5 bikes, did a couple of mods and now it's raining again. Summer in Montana is very slow in coming this year!

Thanks for the pictures. I'll be there in two weeks. The heat will be a welcome change but hopefully it's not too hot. We Montanan's have pretty thick blood.

We were there in Sept. We had a few flurries on the higher elevations of that road. The weather should be great in June. Highs in the high 60s during the day at that elevation. Wish I were going out there! We loved it, can't wait to go out there again. I didn't get to explore North of Torrey so don't know what the riding is like there. We stayed in Panguitch as a home base and explored from there. Did Zion, Bryce canyon, Cedar City, Moab, and some of Western Colo.

I spent about a month working in Zion NP. Took the Uly down. Here is the thread from my trip with a few pictures.

Smith Mesa Road out of Virgin is great for the Uly - see the Monkey Fling explanation in the thread.

Also there is a great road for the Uly called the N. Fork County Road on the East side of Zion NP that you can take all the way up to Navajo Lake and HWY 14.

Great dirt roads down there!
