With seemingly a recent spate of Uly belt breaking tales, and also uncertain supply of replacements, can some of you respond quickly with how many miles you've cranked off without a belt breaking? Thanks much.

33K on my original belt ('06). Replaced before it broke with the 'E' version... got about 18K on that one when it broke. Replace that with the 'F' version... only about 5 k on that on.. so far so good.

40K seems to be the magic number for me. It seems that belts break on me somewhere just after that. It was true on my FLHS Harley, and all my Buells seem to last at least that long. My '06 Uly had almost 35K on the original belt when I traded it in, and it was fine. My '08 XT has 30K on it, and the belt is O.K.
My wife's Lightning Long has 27K on it, and I'm going to replace the belt soon, as we have a 7,000 mile ride planned for next month. I'll do it when I mount the fresh tires before the trip.

I only have 11K on my Uly but I've put over 100K on a belt on a hot rodded 87 Sportster that I retrofitted from chain with a factory kit, and my bagger has 70K on it (also hot rodded), so i don't think there's any magic number. Harley says to replace it on the bagger at 50K but I always hated fixing something that ain't broke.

18K on mine. It's looser than it used to be and the idler spins easily by hand. I've got a new one on the way and I'll relegate this one to spares kit duty.

8,000 miles on original belt; didn't fail but showed cracks between the teeth at that point so I replaced it myself and retained it as an emergency spare.

Replacement belt now has 16,000 miles and looks good as new.

OK, Thanks everyone. Good to hear I can, for the most part, expect at least 20K (if not notably more) out of the belt.

I took mine off at about 36,000. I was going on a road trip and wanted not only a fresh one, but a spare. As a spare, if needed, the used one will be much easier to install road side because it is pre-stretched.

30k miles on the original belt (didn't break). 45k miles on the second belt (didn't break, but was plenty loose). Both are now spares. 06 purchased Jan 23 2006.

I just bought Skinner's Uly, wondering how tough the belts are.
I am riding(6800 miles so far) on a belt that was coiled up, under the seat of my 1125R for 2 months.

Does, perhaps, a belt fit nicely in a top or side case?
Peace of mind indeed.

I commute about 60 miles daily as the Uly is my only form of transportation.
Does anyone here have an extra one that your willing to sell kinda inexpensive in case mine snaps?
I can't really swing the cost of a new one so I figured I ask.....

Replaced my original '06 at 20K, keep it as a spare. Ran the second for 40K and kept it for another spare although it shows more wear than the first. Have about 7K on the third (E) belt and it's finally starting to loosen up, damn that one was snug.

Bought my Uly in April of `06. At 5k miles the belt started to walk off the rear pulley about 1/8". Dealer replaced it under warranty. I have about 14k on it now, no problems, but I can turn the idler pulley by hand. I guess I should buy a spare.

24K miles on my 08 Uly.... still "looks" good; but will probably replace before our big trip to the Canadian Rockies this July.
