I'd love to see a breakdown by unit sales as well. I think Buell had a pipe dream for the demand of the 1125R when they dedicated that much production to it, but I would guess it probably did outsell the Uly that year since many Buell nuts and old-school racers have been pining for a "true" American sportbike for so long. Of course an 1125X would have been the bee's knees and would have easily sold up that 40% production rate!

We sold way more Ulysses than 1125Rs before 15Oct09. A few 1125R's were bought with XB12Rs in trade.

A good many of our post black Thursday Loki went to people already owning Ulysses or Lightnings and keeping them, or one each were bought by a few people.

I was told that East Troy was mid-2010 Loki build when the plug was yanked. Given that, it is conceivable that the only XBs that might have been built were to support various shows and marketing efforts.

As far as the number of 2010 Ulys built, there are a lot of theories being espoused herein but let me just add the following tidbit of reality:

Buell is recalling 2010 XB12X and XB12XT models. The foot peg mount on the right may have been manufactured to incorrect specifications. This could allow the foot peg to move significantly out of position. Dealers will replace the defective foot peg mount with a new mount. The recall is expected to begin on or before Dec. 14. The potential number of units affected is 23. The NHTSA campaign ID number is 09V465000.

Jammin,

Any idea how to find out which bikes (VIN)were effected? I could just wait for the letter, but that would be too easy... or may never come!

Any dealer can run your VIN and tell you . . .

Dealerships will know what bikes are effected or can search by your VIN no. It would be too time consuming for me to look up and then list 23 VIN numbers.

By the by, it was confirmed by a Buell source, 23.

Full production on 2010 [model year] Uly was not scheduled until late October, therefore most 2010 models out there were mainly off a special early built which typically feeds Internal use vehicles.

I got a shot at a 2010 XB12XT and obviously could not resist it, even though I will be officially unemployed after next week. Didn't think twice. Sold my Sporty in 2 days and jumped on that. The way I see it, this was my last chance to own an authentic American leading-edge piece of history. I haven't taken possession yet, but I am much more excited about it than I expected I would be. I heard only 25 XTs were produced for domestic US before the plug was pulled, and 5 of those were California specials.
