Question for the road warriors... As a new road guy I have been studying the tank bags. My years of snowmobiling I used a back pack (so avalanche and survival gear stayed with me not the sled) but I would like a bag. I also have two bikes and this bag would have bike stuff in it and could leave it on the bike unless changing bikes or in theft area. Question then...is there a mounting "plate" that is velcro...or some strap/buckle system that would allow quick on and off and also transfer to another bike which would have the "system" already on it? Thinking about Wolfman Rainier (previously Explorer) for size. Thanks. |

The Buell tank bags have plastic clips that allow it to just clip on and off. If they can still be found, you would just need and extra set of the mounting side of the clips for the other bike. I have one of the older(2004) Buell 'deluxe' tank bag, it also velcro's to it's base pad, but that is a PITA to use regularly in that way. |

http://www.marseeproducts.com/ They have a nice system that can be adapted to our bikes. |

I have narrowed it down to two. 6L Ciao Borsa (link above) and http://www.motopakluggage.com/gtxmini.html I think I am reading that the Marsee can be removed from the mount and the mount stays on the bike (bag held on with velcro?) I like the idea of being able to ride without the bag, and without having to remove the straps. I also like the idea of having silver on the inside to help my old eyes find stuff. My requirement is to be able to stick my Nuvi 760 (not water proof) into the top (under the plastic) when it starts to rain, but I still need to be able to see it. Does anybody have either one of these bags that can tell me if my GPS would fit under the clear plastic top flap? The GPS size is 4.8" x 3.0" x 3/4" . |

Towpro...nice price on the GTX-mini but still can figure what kind of a quick release it is. |

Today the Marsee 10L Pocket Rocket is winning. The hard, clear cover idea looks nice. I could velcro my GPS, Satellite receiver, Phone, etc under the lid to keep it in view, but out of weather. |

Towpro, think about access when you are moving. It would be a pain to use the touch screen looking for fuel or changing volume under the hard cover. I personally use and like the Buell Deluxe tankbag. (Message edited by myzen on November 30, 2009) |

If you buy a XB9SX airbox cover, they have a "X" on top made out of rubber that makes a nice surface. I am thinking of getting one of those before the parts dry up. (Hero Blue!)

The previous owner already put one of these on my bike. |

I have one of the Marsee setups for my Uly. The "base plate" is strapped to the airbox with straps and plastic clips, pretty standard. The bag itself zips to the base with 2 zippers on the sides, and some velcro in the center to keep it from flapping around. I don't think the map sleeve would work for a GPS, though, but Marsee makes many bags that are similar to this mounting style. I did have a zipper problem, and they promptly sent me a replacement/repair. I like the semi-rigid sides of the model that I bought to keep its shape. |

Articktm...so you unzip two zippers to remove the bag? And the piece that is left is "permanently" attached? And thin...like low to the airbox? |

This is my bag of choice. It fits with the general "Outdoor Adventure" look my Touratech panniers and dry bags give it. It fits like it was made for the Uly and it can be adjusted for and aft to give the map pocket a good level position. http://www.wolfmanluggage.com/Tank/explorer_lite.h tml |

Hang...lots of room to reload the fuel? Easy off and on? How about big brother, the Wolfman Rainier? |

Here are some pictures of the Marsee 10L tear drop on a Buell. The tear drop is higher in the back by 1"-2", where the Pocket Rocket would be level. |

Eulysses, The Rainier fits well also. I just felt it was more bulk up on the tank than I wanted. As for ease of removal, the thing clops on and off in a snap. The front buckles fasten cleanly to the forward airbox cover screws and the rear buckles attach via a simple girth hitch to the frame rails just under the seat. I bought the KLR 650 mounting kit that provided this harness. There is plenty of room to get a gas nozzle in in front of the bag, but if you want more room, you can always un-clip the front buckles and slide the bag towards the seat. When not using the bag, the male ends of the buckles remain on the bike, but I don't find them obtrusive and they're easy enough to remove if you don't use the bag regularly. These are the best pix I have for now.

Euly, Yes, you are correct, but not sure I would call the base part "permanent". It is still just attached by 4 plastic locking clips (as seen in above post for a different bag). Sorry, no pics here at work to post. |

Sorry to dig up this older thread, but if anybody that was thinking about getting one of the Marsee tanks bags, you have waited long enough! They are having a demo sale. These are bags that were on display at shows. I bought mine today. http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/product/11005/ |

Thanks Tow...the 12l tear drop would have been the kitty for me but all gone. Probably leaning toward the Explorer or Rainier now. Talking to Santa... |
