Alright, ladies..we all know the bad news. My Uly is the most enjoyable bike I have ridden in 46 years of riding them all, so it is no big deal that I will be keeping this one for some time to come.

What parts do you guys recommend putting aside inorder not to be left out in the cold. Although they have guaranteed parts for 10 years, I want to avoid waiting 6 weeks for them ala Ducati.

I am thinking belt, wheel bearings.....

You should of at least have the belt sitting on a shelf regardless of what happened. Also pickup levers, bearings, and whatever else comes to mind. Other stuff like the fan I wouldn't worry about.

Forget the bearings, you can get them anywhere

Clutch and throttle cables would be good to have.

Belts may be the problem long-term. I can't imagine they're something that could be produced in someone's garage. Hopefully there will be enough of us so that Goodyear will keep producing them. I guess there's always chain conversions if it comes to that point.

Having bought a 2009 Uly as my first bike less than a month a go, and the loan to pay, I have the following questions.

Looking for reliable places to pick up service manuals for the bike. Admittedly, I am a novice wrench, but I can follow a tech manual. Electrical, Mechanical, parts. The works?

Douglas- there are only two books, the service manual and the parts book. The parts book is a good reference both for ordering parts and figuring out how things go back together.

You can order them from your dealer or from a Badweb sponsor like American Sport Bike.

Screw the HD dealer. Get them from American Sport Bike, yeah they get the stuff from HD too but let Al and Joanne have some of the profit.

Save any flaming, yes there are/were a few good Buell/HD dealers but none of that matters anymore does it? Support those who truly support us.

I'n three months you will be able to know the good dealers, they will be advertising in the Buell motorcycle parts service and accessories section of BadWeb.

Because the DDFI2 bikes are "stupid". The DDFI3 bikes are a huge leap ahead in technology, once you start reading into them and tearing them apart, it makes the older bikes look like they are carburated. My 09 1125 electrical book is about the same thickness as the service manual!

The ECM does EVERYTHING on the new bikes. I am pretty sure I can program it to remotely start itself every day 5 minutes before I leave for work if I desired.

So what you're saying Froggy, is that I accidentally did something right by getting an 09. Just for everyone's edmucation, what year did DDFI3 enter service?

If anything...parts supply has gotten FASTER of late.

I ordered my rockerbox conversion parts for my S2 (XB rockerboxes, PCV valves, grommets) and 07 fork springs for my Uly...and everything arrived 5 days later.

DDFI3 was introduced on the 08 models. No more ECMspy options though.
