Yes, there are only 2 choices so humor me by giving me your vote on which one you would do. I must be an anti-New Englander at heart because although I saw lots of pics of the Green Mts and know it would be awesome, I can't get myself to want to head up that way. On the flip side, I've been to NC many times and can justify another trip to Asheville much easier. Although I can't tell you why (maybe the shorter distance makes it seem less of a hassle?). So I want your totally bias opinion: If you have ridden both areas and YOU had to choose one to ride to THIS weekend, which one would it be? (Feel free to insult the locals if it helps your argument) |

I'd choose Vermont; but only 'cause it's less than an hour away. I can give you a route that you will enjoy, though. I recommend doing the ride soon, if you do choose Vermont, because it's going to start getting nippy. |

Never been to Vermont, but I think I'd choose based on the stage of the leaves turning. Beautiful leaves = numerous gawking cagers = riding frustration. I was just near Asheville this past weekend and the leaves are JUST starting to turn there, so you should be OK there. I'd imagine Vermont is much further along. |

This weekend VT!! The fall colors will be changing soon and this weekend is the prime pre-color gazer weekend. Once the gazer geezers are out it is all over for the fun riding. Yellows and orange are starting up in northern NY Weather seems to look better in VT and a cool crisp air loves the ULY engine!!!!!! Save the southride for Buelltoberfest. |

VT and NY(Catskills & Adirondacks), especially this time of year. Be careful of the leafs on the road, can be a bit slippery. |

Hmm. This is tough. I live in RI, so, find myself in Vermont several times per year. For some reason, I've also found myself in NC a couple times a year the last few years! In fact, I'll be down there end of this week picking up my new XP! Vermont has the leaves, covered bridges and, yankee culture. Unless your searching for BBQ, Vermont also has NC beat for food, and, beer. Roads are great in both areas, but, I find it easier to stumble onto great roads in the south for some reason. There's very little great bbq in New England, so, that's what I'm always looking for. I also inevitably have a great redneck moment in the south. Go figure. Those overweight guys, with no front teeth in overalls always find me Asheville has some great beer stops, and, some truly world class espresso at Izzy's. Right on top of the Blue Ridge Parkway, and, you'll be close enough to the dragon not to do it, if that appeals. Great beer and cheese all over vermont. You can't go wrong with either. The above comment about the leaf peepers is true. Kinda. it's still pretty early, but, frankly, stay away from the big roads, stay off rt. 100 and you won't have to worry about it too much. have a great trip, and, bring your rain gear! |

Vermont gets my vote. I've been there once and from that trip, I know I need to go back. |

Just got back from 6 days in West Vermont East NY. Go south young man. The road conditions are not great however the Aderondacks are pretty good. Was there in the summer. I like WVa. for roads E Tn. and NC. Good quality roads. I also several years ago was in NH and Maine and I would go back there again. The Katamangus (sp) was terrific, I think I enjoyed it more than the dragon. Also the Cherahola in the south is terrific. If you go to Vt. I suggest you take rt 17W up north it is a terrific road, lots of sport bikes. My riding buddy and I are probably not going back to that area, but NH perhaps and definatly WVa. |

You want biased ? I am originally from Ct., went to college in Maine, did the majority of my roadracing in NH (Loudon), and my grandparents had a dairy farm in Vermont. I now live in Florida, but have a place in Robbinsville, NC ten minutes from the Cherohala Skyway. My preference is for NC, BUT since you've been there before -- do the Green Mountains in Vermont AND the White Mountains in NH ! |

I'm a sucker for little New England towns and architecture, so I'd go there, but NC is definitely on my list. Here's a recent thread: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/492188.html Better get some better gloves than those old Icons I gave you! |

Go Vermont, but bring your rain gear. Been there six times this year and have yet to manage a dry trip. Going this weekend and the forecast calls for rain of some sort Fri. and Sat. If you go, there are a great couple of twisties that go east-west, and (i think it's) rt 117 that runs up and over a 'mountain' in a wonderful series of turns (it's so nice I let the others rest at the top lookout area while I do it a second time) and visit New Hampshire, where their highway maintenance department is the best in New England (IMHO). Search for "motorcycle-roads" and the (same name?) site has color coded the best roads by state and region. |

I've been to both and each has its advantages and disadvantages. North Carolina is more crowded and has more riders coming here. There is a good reason for that, the roads around Asheville are the best anywhere. Vermont is beautiful and after a couple of fall seasons in New England, I fell in love with the area. The scenery in both areas are fantastic. Old Colonial Vermont versus rustic mountains of the Blue Ridge. To me it would be a hard call. I ride west to the mountains of North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee several times a year. I do that for the roads and they are not too far away. But I really want to visit the New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts tri-state area again. |

I say go to Vermont. Don't get me wrong, I think that Asheville is a beautiful place. I grew up in that area. If you have been to NC several times then you need to take your Adventure bike on a new Adventure. Have fun and explore a new part of this great place we like to call the United States. I wish I could go to Vermont and explore uncharted territory on my bike. |
