What's with that leg sticking out? I've seen other guys doing that on the Dragon, but I don't understand why...

Nice pic there on killboy!

LOL Glen, it took me a long time to stop putting my foot out (I rode dirt since I was 10 years old).

Now I've been riding street since I was about 16, I'm afraid I'd try the knee drag in the woods. I caught myself sliding down the seat and hanging out in the air a bit yesterday as I took a curve really fast on my Uly XT... I bet that looked ridiculous with all my tour luggage on the bike!

While you are trying to learn to NOT put your foot out, check out Moto GP and notice that Stoner and Rossi both do it with regularity.
Of course, there are no checkered flags at the end of most of our rides in the real world, but it is interesting to notice.
Why? Who knows. Must be mostly mental, 'cuz you sure don't want to actually hit the pavement like that.
I catch myself doing it out of dirt track style habit, but didn't think Rossi came from that type of background.

Since you didn't get the comment on Darryl's site yet, "You'll break your leg off kid."

Nice that you made the front page.

I rode dirt too but it was on a trials bike. If you put a foot down you get a point, and that's not a good thing!!
The best dirt track race I ever saw was Bubba Shobert on his Honda set the track record. He came into the corner, let off the gas, let the ass end come around and once it reached a certain angle the gas went back on and he slid it all the way around the corner, WITH HIS FEET ON THE PEGS! The smoothest rider I've ever witnessed.

That is a much faster way to ride the Uly through the tight turns, puts more weight on the front end
