I have the Buell tank bag and want to adapt a much smaller bag to use the same attachement buckles, thus I can use either bag depending upon need. I cannot find the plastic attaching buckles that fit the Buell stuff. Any ideas where I might be able to get several? Thanks |

They are model specific. I had to order replacement buckles (female end). I don't know if you can get the male end alone. I know the rear attachment point is male. You could buy a couple and disassemble. |

Little hardware store in town has a good selection with some that appeared identical. I'll ride into town tomorrow and see if they'll mate with the bag clips--if they do, I'll pass some your way. Will let you know. |

I have bought similar buckles in the past from local camping/outdoor stores. They really don't seem like they would be so specific that you couldn't find something close enough. |

I did check my hardware store yesterday--no luck. They had a set that was very close, but it just didn't latch securely. You might be relegated to ordering some from the dealer as FB suggested. Good luck. |

You could try (I know, I know, most guys wouldn't want to be caught dead in a place like this) a fabric or craft store like Jo-Ann's or Michael's. |

If anyone finds buckles that interact with the Buell tankbag buckles, please post it here. My local hardware store's buckle selection is either too big or too small. I'd like to mod my bike to accept the tankbag easily from the airbox cover, to the back seat, or to the triple tail. (Message edited by debueller on April 22, 2009) |

I hadnt even thought about it but I could use my bigger bag on the beaver tail, and the smaller comms bag on the tank, if I had extra buckles. good idea Debueller. I also found some buckles but I do not want to go to the trouble of changing out the connectors on both the bag and the tank attachments. Anyone have accss to a parts manual or connections to find out where from the factory we can purchase extras? |

You could replace the buckles with those helmet buckles that replace the D-Rings. I used one of them to retain a tankbag on a previous bike. Use some black webbing to fab up the attachments that stay on the bike. |

My local camping/outdooor stuff store has a bunch, ironically jest went there to day to get a replacement for a broken one on non-Buell tank bag. If no access to them then these guys seem to have all the sizes...unless you need metric. http://www.ahh.biz/products/hardware/Buckles/Buckl es_Side_Release__Black_Plastic_(www.ahh.biz).htm |
