Does anyone have a trick to remove the rubber grommets that the windshield plugs into without ruining them?

No, but it's easier getting them out then in! |

I warmed mine up with a blow dryer first. Was able to remove and did not destroy in the process. |

I squirted some Armor-all on them and they slipped right out of there..... |

Thanks, I will give it a try tomorrow. I have some new ones on the way just in case. Has anyone done the recall for the XT. I think I remember something about the bottom part of the large shield being bolting down. I am heading to the hardware store, after I remove and reinstall the grommets, to pickup some bolts to secure the bottom of the shield. Thanks again for the help; I never thought to lube them up. Fill the sink with hot soapy water and leave the screen in it for 10 minutes - they should pop out! |

Strada, worked great! Choyashi, yep, they were a pain to get back in. |

Hey Uly Guys, I lost a screw early in my 11K miles. I finally got around to ordering a replacment and they have been replaced by a Factory Recall! Here in Chicago, the dealer is now aware of it and can get the new kit in a couple of days. |

Frank - if you want I can take some pics of my recall kits. I have all 4 corners of my shield attached with them. OVERKILL, but for a while I had an old FXD "supersport" shield attached to my tall Uly screen, and I wanted the security (it's a $5 kit). Now I have a Cee Bailey for winter, and a 4-bolt stock short screen for summer Basically, though - you get a washer for the outer edge of the windscreen; a screw; a spacer for the screw that sits in the pieces on the colored flyscreen (the inner 6-bolt piece); another washer for the inside; a nylock nut. I'll see if I can find the .pdf today at work, but I'm flying solo today and we've been busy as crap the last few days (first days in the 70s this season) so I might not even have time to scratch...but I'll try. |
