It is natural we talk the most about problems, since this is a great resource. However, it occurs to me that people looking in will think all we have are problems. I love my Ulysses and I think it is the best bike I have ever owned. My feeling is that most of us feel the same way. Is it true?

You must be the oddball, everyone else is being tortured by making a $12k mistake by purchasing a lemon. Recently hit 53,000km, warranty expires in a few days, time to dump it!

No complaints with mine.

Ok, the journeyman bags p*ss me off and so does the lack of a fork oil drain plug...

I don't complain about the little problems that pop up. I just fix them. I like to share those experiences here to help fellow Buellers who may be having a small problem that seems unsurmountable if it cannot be diagnosed properly. Almost all of the fixes are easy.

I wouldn't feel that way if I didn't get that permagrin when riding this thing.

IMHO. Absolutely the best ride on two wheels.

Love mine, only bike I have ever owned though so slightly biased!
I'm sure if I was to go to other forums there would be as many or more people with issues from all bike models...

How many people use this forum and how many have complaints and voice problems?
probably not too many really.

Buells have a unique look and attraction!

I got rid of a H-D Roadglide with 90,000 miles on it after buying mine. I wouldn't trade it for any other bike on the planet. Its the most fun bike I have ever ridden.

I sold my s3t and bought a 2008 uly with 1200 miles on it. I have only put a few hundred miles on it so far, but I love the bike. The stock seat is more comfortable than my corbin on the s3t, heated grips are great for cool mornings, the journey bags are HUGE. I can haul 4 times as much as the narrow bags on the s3t. Very happy. Need to put more miles on!!!!!

Anytime you buy a bike or car your going to have some issues. Thats what a warrenty is for.

I like my Uly!

My short wife has a little difficulty climbing up on the back seat. We may pick up another bike for when we're riding two up but they Uly stays : )

I agree with Dan, it's a fun bike

I'm all for women riding their own bikes. Sure, if you are single, having a gal behind you is the snizzle but once you are married it's a different story. My wife rides her own and I don't have to be bothered with her tapping me on the shoulder to slow down. It also gives them bragging rights and a feeling of accomplishment. Chicks look cool piloting their own bikes. Buells tend to be a bit tall for gals. And a Blast is a joke for a bike.

I figured that would trigger some come backs and that's ok. My feeling is that it is long due for updating. Could be so much more.

I think the Blast fits and maybe even exceeds it's design goals. As a beginner bike (or for someone who is vertically challenged), the Blast is a great bike. Someone like me (6' and 215#) maybe it's not so good, OK, pretty sad. I can't say that I've ever enjoyed riding a Blast, but I've been riding over 30 years. I would guess a new rider would have a "blast" on a Blast. Seems like most folks outgrow the Blast in a year or two and then head towards a Sportster or something similar (at least that was the initial intent, I believe). Anyway, it's a great learner's bike, without a doubt.

Well I have to say I don't fit the blast, 6'7" 255...I did however take the MSF/riders edge course on the blast.
It was quite comical!

Ullygan I would have given you the MOTO Acrobatics award! Rider's Edge Fun Certificate. I love my ULY! Just getting back from Lake Park, Georgia, the first ever, long distance solo trip... me, the bike, and the road. I did about 2,000 miles on that trip and I only had to think about myself, gas, food, and a place to sleep. It was Awesome: )

2001 Blast - I love that bike.

2003 Firebolt - I love that bike.

2008 Ulysses - I love that bike.

...if I could only keep one, it would be the Uly, though, hands down.

I know I already responded to this thread once but after a winter of pretty much commuting to work, running errands and the like on my Uly, yesterday I took a ride with a couple of friends just for pleasure. Probably the first one so far this year. One plain fact shined brightly clear;

The Buell Ulysses is fun. Intoxicatingly, above and beyond, in your face FUN! So much fun that I actually felt a little sorry for my two friends. The poor bastards. The bikes they ride by choice are as a ball and chain around their ankles. Though they will readily say "I love my bike" it's painfully evident in their faces when they pull in to the rest stop after a spirited run up the Columbia Gorge. I'm half done with a smoke by then and the fan has shut off minutes ago...
It's painfully evident when a citizen happens by while we are fueling and only seems interested in the Buell. I see their faces as they put on their helmets and fire up their ball and chains.
I could go on and on.
I am unfettered by any shackles. I'm free. AND I AM PROUD TO RIDE A BUELL!!!

I am in love with my Uly all over again!

I need to get on the bandwagon with this one. I absolutely love my Uly.

I have had it since November '05 and it has been a daily commuter, weekend two-up tourer and occasional corner scratcher.

This particular bike has a sweet-spot a mile wide and is just plain fun to ride. The only thing I can relate that 'fun to ride' factor to is the way I used to feel about riding my very first bike. Forty years later it is pretty special to find that again.

I love mine too. So much so that I have to make a point to start riding my S2 again now that the roads are salt-free.

I do have a complaint, though. How DARE they build a bike that's so much fun, and so capable, that it made me put a GPS on it? I mean really...a bike that takes me places I've never been, just because "that road/trail/path looks cool", and keeps me running around until the sun goes down? How the hell else am I supposed to find my way home other than the "route home" button??

Maybe warranty will reimburse me...as far as I'm concerned a GPS is a requirement on these bikes and somebody in ET should have taken care of that ; )

Petereid - check out Ron's (rwven) passenger peg relocation brackets for the wife. I've got a set and they are top notch. Move the pegs 1.25" down, 1.25" forward, and look great to boot! There's a 'passenger peg relocation' thread here somewhere...

I love mine too. I sneak out into the garage during the dark of night and hug it, but I never kiss it, just too ugly. Once in awhile I fondly caress it with a soft cloth and bodywax.

Agree totally...love my Uly as well. Best bike I have owned ever..so much fun. Was on a HOG poker run last weekend, 70 HDs and 5 Buells..sitting in a park and a guy came over having looked at all the bikes there (Screaming Eagle etc) and said..you know this is the coolest bike here!!!! Obviously a man of great taste..a few HD boys were less than happy but all fun.....LOVE MY ULY

I'm also in the "in love" catagory........and my better half knows it. Hands down the BEST bike I've ever had or ridden. Does everything it's supposed to and whole lot Buell says it's not supposed to (XT that thinks it's an X). No major problems, a couple loose fasteners and rusty can but easily fixable.

Still smiling.................
