I just got my new windscreen from ups today.I ordered the zero-gravity /tall/ light smoke.I just installed it, and it looks great. The rubber pins were a little hard to pry off the sheild, but when I placed the pins on the new shield.they seem to fit a little losely.Even when I snapped them in place on the fairing they are not as tight as before,Is this normal, and what is the best screen to have.I love the sporty look, but I also won't as much protection as possible! Do the adjustable brackets help any?I've noticed them on a few bikes, and they look good, just wondering about the air travel between the bracket(looks like about a 2" gap between the fairing and shield).

hey stoneman if you don't have screws holding that screen on it will come off when going at speed. The tall screen from buell comes with 2 screws for the bottom holes.

Well, I was going 70 the other day with
a gusting 30+ mph head wind.
That's 100 mph combined force!
Someone must be really flying to have the
windshield pop off!!
Maybe they come loose at 110?
With a 5 mph tailwind!

Stoneman, don't reuse the existing pins when replacing the windshield. It tends to loosen up and not hold when riding at highway speeds. All of the Buell products with the tall shield comes with screws in the bottom holes to prevent it from coming off while riding. Maximun's tall ZG screen came off while riding to Homecoming last year. Before I had the recall on my Buell tall screen, it started to come off one time while I was on the highway but I was able to grab it and hold on until I got stopped.

I got a ZG tall smoke colored screen but I haven't put it on my motorcycle yet. I like the darker color.

It's too late now. You need to order the bolt kit or it will be in the back of your head every time you're on a highway ruining your ride even if it doesn't backflip into your face.

"How and where did you coax 130 out of a Uly?"

I checked that out this morning. If you believe the speedo it is possible.

As for the shield bolt it on, life is short enough, and nuts and bolts are cheap.

Any side street.

Used to bang past 130 nearly everyday on the way to work.

The only coaxing involved was when after I got to work, I would have to coax mah gonads back out of my stomach.

As in you got 130 as well?
How long, in miles, did it take you to get there?

GPS are notoriously inaccurate!

Thanks! I just spit a mouthful of coffee all over my keyboard.

The most I ever got out of mine was 110 on the straight at Loudon speedway. And that was pinning it.

Guess I need to find some longer stretches - probably have to travel out of New England to find one.

Anyone drag their's? 1/8th and 1/4 mi. times?

Less than 2.

But may Uly ain't stock. I have bolts on the bottom of mah ZG tinted windshield.

It was pretty cool watching the ice coffee getting sucked out of my straw at those speeds.

110 is only 5,400 RPM in fifth. Checked it three times coming home from work. (on the track of course)

Well, I still haven't seen (or perhaps noticed)any answer for the poor sap's question on where to get the screws for the ZG tall screen. Call your dealer and order the hardware kit for the Buell tall screen. It's a little expensive for what you get, but it's made for the job. You simply use the rubber plugs from the short screen for the top holes, as there is no real stress on those. The screws fit the bottom holes. Works great and your screen will never pop off.
Sorry to anyone whose advice I repeated.

Hi you need

2 x M0230.1AKB - upper mounting pins - you shouldn't reuse the old
1 x 57739-07Y - retro mounting kit.

Later model XTs come with well nuts, but these can't be used on the retro fit.

The kit is expensive but it has a precision sleeve and a recessed washer.

I used that kit on the bottom bolts only for my ZG tall screen. It was kinda loose. Cut about 1/8" off each of the bottom bolt spacers and your new windshield wont make contact with your dash cover (cowl) at high speeds. If you install the bolts in the top locations too, then you might not be able to access your top cowl cover screws.
