As these tires have no tread in the center section of the rear I am not sure how to gauge how much rubber is left before I reach the cords. I've used my bike more for slabbing than cornering so the tire is somewhat flattened in the center. Is there enough rubber in the tire to allow me to reach the inner set of wear bars prior to the cords showing?

I prefer the idea of "if in doubt...", but I have run a set a couple hundred miles into the cords. (Had to get home.) Wear bars started showing shortly before cords, and by shortly, I mean VERY shortly. Like started the ride, looked at tires and the wear bars were just touching down, couple hundred miles later, happen to notice cords, couple hundred more miles, and I was home, spooning new rubber on.

When I'm not entirely sure of just how close I am to the threads on my rear tire, I simply place the front wheel against the garage wall and light up the rear, real good.
Once the smoke clears, I know instantly just how close I really was to the threads.

YMMV.

The stradas suck for just that very reason.

If you are in doubt, replace a Strada. Don't even guess.

Yes, there is.
