I'll start things off with 48,700 miles. Woulda been more except it snapped on a tipover.

37,000ish on the old style 06 belt. They seem to break when you need them the most. I think the new belts will end up lasting longer with the way I ride.

It would be interesting to know the type and year of the bike/belt and also to know the least miles on a belt too.

I don't want to make this too complicated, but if the circumstances of the riding conditions and breakage were known too, then this may help.

Tubers count?
My original belt on my X1 lasted just about 48,000.
My Uly is still just a kid at 10,000 miles.

The M2's belt "stripped" teeth at the strip with 32,000 miles.

The Uly belt is still original at 37,000 miles.

Another question: Here in UK, it's considered almost essential to fit a Free Spirits Tensioner, not only to save the belt, but to protect the gearbox output shaft bearings, particularly on the Uly due to the increased suspension travel. Any comments?

06 XB12X
replaced at 30,000 miles as preventative maintenance. Found a tear in belt, showing threads. It won't have lasted much longer.

My personal opinion is that the FS tensioner is a good thing. Seems like there are some Ulysses that the belt is REALLY tight and others where it's not so. Could just be machining and assembly variation from bike to bike, anyway, both of the bikes (Uly and STT) I've got have the spring loaded tensioner and I'm keeping a close eye on both the rear bearings and the belts on both. I've also drilled the rear hub on my Uly (thanks for the info, Tread!) hoping to avoid the dreaded water intrusion issue. So far, so good. I plan to keep this bike for a long time, so any preventative measures I can take, I'm doing.

I changed mine at 31,000 as a preventative move on my '06. It was getting loose, I could move it up and down over an inch mid gap. I was planning a long trip and didn't want to chance it. I now have the new style super tight one on and a reasonably good spare.

...I'm gonna go with "not Glitch", although technically he doesn't have a Uly.

I've got the original belt with over 16,000 miles on an 06'. The last time I had the rear wheel off to grease the bearings before heading to East Troy for Homecoming I noticed how easy the belt slid back on when reassembling. Must be stretched. Anyway it tightened up nicely as I tightened the axle to Buell tq spec. I've pretty much given up on the wheelies and expect the belt to last quite a few more miles. No complaints about the belt at all. 43,000+ miles on my Electraglide belt and zero problems along the way.

but to protect the gearbox output shaft bearings

Has anyone on Badweb had the output shaft bearings fail?

Not a bearing, but the output shaft seal was replaced under warranty at about 7000 miles or so.
