"uhm the fan passed away at 24k but other than that the real problem seems to be tire consumption .... but that could be my fat a$$, fair compensation for miles of smiles."

That's what I like to hear. I sometimes wonder if some of the problems people have with their motorcycles are related to the fact they never get ridden. Letting a vehicle sit for long periods of time, whether its a car or motorcycle, will lead to all kinds of problems.

I think you will find that to be 180 degrees out from the reality that is the Ulysses. Most of the guys that helped me with my problems, as well as myself, had been averaging over a thousand miles a month. Most of us also ride all year.

Aside from the annoying cooling fan and the occasional difficulty finding neutral, the Ulysses is the best motorcycle that I have owned, so far. I bought it after careful research and the recommendation of an HD parts man, who stated the Uly was the best motorcycle that he} has ever owned (he has owned over 30). I liken it to a 1965 Pontiac GTO on two wheels, with Geo Metro fuel economy. Aside from that, it's large and comfortable.

26k and the only problems seem to be the ones that I get myself into. But I refuse to quit riding on dirt, mud, gravel, shale, fireroads and through puddles.

If you see my bike clean and in front of Starbucks, its been stolen.

Hah! Tell me about it. Went to use the car for the first time in at least a month, and the battery was dead! Brand new battery was put in July.

Last May, I traded my '06 Uly in on an '08 XT. The '06 had over 34,000 miles on it. The wiring harness never wore through, the kickstand bolts never broke, the charging system never failed, the belt was fine, it still had the original wheel bearings, the fuel pump wiring never gave me a problem. A clutch cable wireform broke around 7,000 miles and was replaced under warranty. The fan died around 24,000 miles; it was also warranteed.
It was the most trouble free motorcycle I've ever owned in 39 years of riding.

I hate this motorcycle!!!

On the average durring the 2 1/2 years I have owned it I have driven 49 miles per day on it. Thats a gallon of gas everyday! and at the prices of gas this summer MAN!! It uses gas ,$3 a gallon, oil, $8 a quart and tires ,$220 set. The seat is way to comfortable. The bags hold way to much crap and keeps me away from home days on end.

The Buell perma grin is stuck on my freaking face all day at work. Mr. Buell owes me a ton of time and miles explaining to every non Buell rider what the hell I'm driving. I'd have close to 60,000 miles if I didn't have to explain myself at every gas stop and yes even Harley dealer's that it's NOT A DAMN BMW!!!

The cost of ownership is priceless but worth every penny!!!

5k on my 08XT since picking it up in May. not as many miles as some log but I do not have to commute, so they're all pleasure miles. OK, with a few necessary runs in there....

No real problems other than a longer riding season is needed. I lost a windscreen mounting screw and washer, a bolt was loose during break-in and, oh yeah, a damn suicidal deer took out my headlights and half my signal lights......(but she was still ridable home with my left signals flashing to ward off the rest of the forest rats)

Hands down, the best RIDE I've ever had or ridden. I'll ride this thing into the ground, or until I can't ride anymore......
