I have a 2008 XT bought in May, and have been experiencing the extremely low gas mileage (35-38 mpg with normal highway riding) and lack power below 3000 rpms. Based on many articles on this board, I found out that the new ECM download available (M31US25y)should help address these symptoms. In addition, several posts have mentioned this should be a free download (see thread http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=142838&post=1192569#POST1192569) Unfortunately, I just took my bike in and the dealer said there is no bulletin and therefore they are charging me for the ECM update (~ $84). Is this right? I haven't gotten the bike back yet, so I don't know if it help address the issues yet, but I'll let you know. I just can't stand my dealer (Zylstra HD in St. Charles, IL) as they have zero customer service and no inclination to help with anything.   Darthane Posted on Thursday, September 04, 2008 - 02:04 pm:        The 'part' is free. They can't charge you for that. You reported a problem (low gas mileage) and they have fixed it by installing the ECM update. The HD Tech computer clearly notes: non-chargeable, indicating that the 'part' is to be furnished at no charge. To me, a labor charge for an updated part for a bike that is under warranty is ridiculous. I guess that they don't expect to have you as a continuing customer.
