I have less than 6,000 miles on my second rear D616 and its bald down the middle. Funny thing is, the original D616 it came with had middle tread left when I changed it at over 10,000 miles and I treated it way worse than this 6,000 mile baldy. Anybody have experience with any of the available dual compound tires that could recommend them? I want a tire that lasts longer than 6,000 miles. I only need the rear because I just recently ( 2 or 3,000 miles ago ) replaced the front with a Scorpion Sync which seems to be a very nice and evenly wearing tire. | ||

I ordered a tire for my VTX1300 from them, didn't have any problems. SW Moto has been around quite some time. A lot of the BMW guys who do their own service swear by them. I got my Michelin Road Pilot II from the local Suzuki dealer for about $180 carry in mt and bal. Try some of the other dealers these tires fit most sport and adventure bikes. By the way I normally got 6000 miles out of what ever tire I put on the rear, and now have 4000 on this Michelin and it looks good for at least another 4000. I am very pleased with this tire. I still have a good Sync on the front. It will be getting replaced with the matching Road Pilot II when it expires. | ||

I just took off a set of Michelin PR#2s yesterday....They had 6,000 miles on them and had about 1K left but I got six pieces of glass in the rear...so I put on the new Dunlop Road Smarts...I really like the feel much better than the PR2s. The Road Smarts have a very concentric feel in the turns, I never liked the PR#2...Glad they are gone...not bad, just no likee.. The RSs are about $20 cheaper too... and dual compound. | ||

My Syncs are at the end of their life after 5k mi. I'll be replacing them with a set of Diablo Stratas. We'll see how they last and feel. | ||

I have a little over 5k on my rear strada with prolly a little under 2k left with it be completely bald in the center. I did a lot more highway riding that I have not done before, but I still got double the life over normal sportbike tires. I will buy them again. Great grip, not as good as a true sport tire, but pretty close. | ||

I had about 6500 on the Syncs when I put a large object through the rear. A lot of tread depth was left, but the tire was not repairable. I was considering the PR 2s, but since I was replacing only the rear, I decided to stay with Pirelli. Strada's on now. After a few hundred miles, it's better on the road than the Sync, better cornering stability at moderate lean angles. I have not tried dirt roads yet. Mark in Arizona | ||

Hah! My Sync lasted 11k! The front did 18k, but its hard to wear out a tire that dosen't touch the ground  Perhaps I can get 22k on a Pilot Road 2 | ||

I've had excellent luck with SW Moto for several years. Buy 2 and don't pay shipping. I'm just about to order a set right now. I prefer the Avon Storm tires. I get good mileage and grip with them. | ||

I've had excellent results with my Dunlop D616. I've rode both rear tires over 10,000 miles and the front over 20,000. I especially like the wet traction they give me when ridding in the rail. I've heard some good reviews about the new Dunlop Road Smarts but I won't be changing tires for another 8,000 miles so I'll have plenty of time to check them out. | ||

My second D616 rear tire was not at all as long wearing as the first and it has cupping. Won't waste my money on another Dunlop D616. Their quality control on their D616 compound must suck since my experience with the rear tire is so much different on the second compared to the first. First tire lasted 10,000 miles and no cupping with center tread still good but I changed it out anyway. 2nd tire bald down the middle at less than 6,000 miles and cupped AND I've been way less hooligan during the 2nd tire than the first. Maybe if I had beat the shiite out of the bike the tire would last longer .....NOT. I'm going to order the Pilot Road 2. | ||

Any news on the Avon Storms? Love the syncs but I only get about 3000 miles on the rear. From what little I've heard, the Avon Storms are a really good tire, but most of you went to the pr2. | ||

I have the Avon Storms on my BMW RT and love them. I just replaced my rear tire on the Uly and since I had pre-paid for a number of services when I bought my bike, the tire was replaced with another sync. But I only get two tires, so my next full set of tires I plan on putting the Uly is a set of Storms. However, that probably won't be for a while. Wayne | ||

I've never got a D616 to go over 3K yet. And I wear em down to the cords. I'm trying the dual compound Bridgestone BT021's out right now. I have about 3.5K on them and still have about 50% tread left over. So far I really like them. The hard center section in the back really cuts down on wear for highway / commuting duty. Still fairly sticky when leaned over, I have pushed the front end a couple of times but there may have been some debris in the road. |
