Is this a good quality kit? $43 seems awfully low. I'd hate to buy some crap that's going to burn out in a day or fry my ECM...

Basically I copied Treadmark and installed HID in the lamp housings instead of just plain halogen bulbs... This makes it really bright and really obnoxious but at least i'm seen.... With only the driving beam on it lights up highway signs about a mile down the road, with both the driving and the spot beam it lights up signs at least 3 mi away...

Oh and I pity anyone in a cage that gets in front of me, i'm sure these things can cause a sunburn on the back of your head at about 50 yards....

Johnboy777,
SO this kit is the same you are running.

Like the others said, it seems really cheap for what you get.

I have one hand on the purchase button waiting your reply.

It lights up a big damn patch of road. I hate being in front of that ; ) I need to add it to my bike just to get back to the status quo.

Good Looking Deal, however $26 for shipping, and additional 65% is a bit strong.

Seems reasonable to me. Have you tried shipping anything overseas lately?

""Johnboy777 - Where did you mount the ballasts?""

I think Ulyssesguy has been using 'em already...right?

I just ordered mine. The post was an FYI.

I plan to mount it (only one, as I plan to use it on the low beam only) under the fly screen.

My high beam has a headlight modulator, so it won't get the HID, and my next step is going to be adding HID driving lights (spot beam) of some sort - the smaller Trail Techs look really nice - further down.

Do those require a modification to the headlamp housings to fit properly?

Ok, I just placed an order for one.

My thoughts, it is way easier to go to their ebay site and buy it that way. I farted around on their site and it was very smooth. It kept pushing me to a version of a PayPal page that was failing repeatedly.

BDS,
I just got the Palmer brackets in as well. The Euro hardware is a little interesting. Very tight fit, anyway... I got it all mounted up and they look good. No road testing yet.

You'll like them, Slowride. I got a set of the older version (he's made some improvements, I gather) used and what a difference it made, particularly at freeway speeds. Night and day. I'm thinking about trying one notch higher, but even with it set mid and forward I can now ride the freeway with my visor up. =D

Going to do a Back to Back to Back with Buell High, and Iian's two windshields when the 09 Uly arrives in 60 days or so.

Brackets and hardware are quality items.

Can't wait to test the windshields

What color temp is everybody using? What is our bulb size(2006 ULY)? Will this work to put both bulbs in both lights? Will there be a heat issue with the housing?

Thanks for the info

I personally prefer the 5000k color temp because it is the closest to natural daylight and has the highest lumen output, anything higher and the light starts getting shades of blue and purple... The sock Uly headlight bulbs are H7... Yes you can put the hid in both reflectors on the stock Uly and no It wont overheat Hid's use put out less heat than the stock halogens...

Hey Black_buelly,

4,500k - 6,000k seems to be a popular color range.

Lots of great info here:
http://www.hid50.com/

And here:

Hope that helps

Soif I wanted to run both HID low beams in my Uly's high and low beam sockets would that work? In other words, are there different powers for the high and low beam bulbs, or is the only difference the shape and angle of the reflector?

Only the shape of the reflectors and their alignment differ. The bulbs are the same.

I perfer 4300k color temperature. It looks more white, and anything more than that looks blue to me. Plus the lower the color temperature the brighter the overall lumens.

I'm about to click buy right now for 2 kits. A 4300k bi-xenon kit for my bike and another 4300k H7 kit for the car. $150 for both kits shipped is a fantastic deal, plus I'll have a spare H4 Bi-xenon I could give to my father for his harley, or I could sell it to a fellow tuber.

This will help me free up some more voltage too. As it stands right now using my fog lights or heated vest causes my voltage 'guage' to drop dramatically... not good.

Hmmmmmmmmmm
