I am in the final decision stages between the Multistrada, the R1200R, and the XB12XT. PArt of my decision will be based upon the level of support I receive from my local dealer. So, I ask you BWB forum, who is the best Buell dealer in the DC area? I am looking for someone knowledgeable, and also someone who will let me take a good test drive.

Thanks in advance for the input.

HD Buell of Frederick hands down. I've been to HD Wash (currently getting rid of the Buell line), Battley (Gaithersburg), the Annapolis HD/B, Gettysburg ( also now out of the Buell business)and Old Glory (Laurel).

Go to Frederick and ask for Joe

1. Frederick
2. Old Glory
3. Battley

Battley/Old Glory seems to be the closest to you, I would develop a good relationship with them for things that you don't want to go all they way to Frederick to get.

No experience with the dealerships mentioned above but definitely stay away from East Coast, and after waiting 6 weeks to get my bike repaired due to a failed rear wheel bearing, I can no longer recommend Whitts in Manassas. In my experience, Buell repairs take a backseat to HD's. I've run out of dealerships I trust that are within 50 miles of my house.

Sfwaiter - I sent a PM reply to you.

For the group, I basically explained that I get pretty good service from Battley, even after plowing into the deer in February, which required front end work and a full frame replacement. I don't get the feeling that my Buell gets put at the back of the line at the service shop. I also have a Harley, and the service wait is usually about the same for both (minus the week that it takes to order Buell parts). I like the guys in the service department there. My question is: how much experience do they have fixing Buells? How many Buells do they see come through there each year? Replacing the frame on my Uly must have been a BEAR of a job for ANY technician. Oh, and since I bought both of my sleds there, I get 10% off on parts and accessories, which is just fine with me. $95 per hour labor rate.

The salesguys are fine - good balance of younger, sportriders and surprisingly no stereotypical leather-vesters. The BMW guy there is the real deal - knows everything and has ridden everywhere. You won't find any Buell gear there, though - I once saw a pink Buell hat up in the bargain area. I kind of wish there were Buell-specific events/rides scheduled through the dealer. Who knows - maybe they just haven't sold enough of them to have a critical mass.

I have no experience with the other dealers outside of a t-shirt from Old Glory (but they do a great job with their Buell display) and reading Ratbuell's (Joe's) outstanding advice and support of Buells - though it's a little far from me, I'll definitely head up to Frederick and check them out.

Bottom line: gotta' get a test ride.
