I carry the tiny gun sometimes.
Still looking for a good way of carrying the .45 without having it poke out from my skinny butt.
It looks like the least obtrusive way would be a fanny pack style holster.
I think I would rather be mugged than to wear that though  |

That tiny gun is a particularly effective piece. If you do not let your assailant see it, one shot over their head will have them convinced that you are packing at least a 9mm. It is a great one to carry if you are intent on saving the situation without the intent to kill, although I wouldn't want a .22 MAG hollow point slammed into me a close range. It doesn't take up much room, real easy to carry in a pocket holster. Report that will ring your ears, close up lethality. |

I love this website! It is very refreshing to read posts from people who refuse to be victims! Something not seen much here in leftist Portland.
I have a carry permit, and I carry a compact Kimber 45 on my hip. I barely know that it is there. |

It's funny. I've had people unfamiliar with the Uly come up to me and ask,"So, where do you keep your gun?" It must be the assault vehicle-like appearance of it. Now this thread comes along to let me know I'm doing it wrong. |

As a Canadian it is all but impossible to even own a handgun, interesting comment below from a guy responding on a forum to someone asking if they could carry a gun in Vancouver...
"You can get a permit if you can demonstrate a pending threat to your safety and security...such as a public figure receiving threats. You can also get CCW if you work in remote locations and require it for (non human) predator defense.
If you are a 'regular' citizen it doesn't matter if you receive death threats daily or you live in a neighborhood with a high crime rate...hell, you could have been raped 5 times in the last week....you'll never be allowed to defend yourself by CCW."
Most police in Canada DO NOT have permission to carry off duty.
Despite mountains of evidence that CCW reduces violent crime and places like England and Australia (who prohibit almost everything) have worse stats than the U.S., Canadians seem happier to stick their heads in the sand.
Remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
On the other hand, knowing anybody who just had a fight with there wife, has had a couple of beers and perhaps no formal training and maybe doesn't like my choice in motorcycles can run around with concealed handgun makes me nervous....

The violent crime rates for CW permit carriers is almost non-existent......
......while the violent crime rates in areas with CW permits is also remarkably low....................

I am really enjoying reading all the different thoughts and philosophies that have been shared on this thread. Great to see the Uly community has lots of gun owners! I never made that connection till this thread got started. I frequently think about what my own personal "rules of engagement" are, and can appreciate all the useful points brought up here. I also can recommend competitive action shooting, such as IPSC or IDPA as one way of learning to control both gun and mind when under pressure. Yes, it isn't the same pressure, but having the rangemaster holding the timer behind your head as you try to shoot accurately (or not-shoot, on some targets!) while being rushed/timed, is an eye opening experience. If you think you can handle a handgun well but have never tried this, find a club and try it. Shooting under pressure is a whole different thing! and practicing a lot helps. Not to mention that it is a lot of fun also  )

I'm just grateful this hasn't gone into the false dichotomy of politics. I carry a Ruger SP101, the wife keeps my old P89 close by when I'm out late. |

i mulled this over for a while. the main thing i had a problem was is this: you are responsible for your piece at ALL TIMES. if you go down, and lose consciousness, you have failed.
If you go into the post office and lock it under the not so secure seat... you have failed.
CCW is a lot of responsibility, adding the element of carrying while on a motorcycle makes that responsibility grow exponentially.
just my .02, but i can't think of a situation that my right hand on the throttle couldn't get me out of, that my right finger on the trigger could.
also, nevada reciprocity laws are kind of bogus. meaning that the nevada ccw isn't even good for utah, or i think california. |

i feel that a ccw is a great thing , not only becouse would be fellons are easily intimidated by the sight of a hand gun but , i have had a 1997 yamaha v-max stolen from a walmart parking lot not 200 feet from where i could clearly see the scooter theif pulling the clutch in after just hot wiring my bike , had i had a piece i would have done some pulling of my own , i AM an active army soldier currently deployed in iraq , and with all the weapons training i have recived over the last few years , being here and seeing how differently people respond when you ARE and ARE NOT armmed is a huge difference , most would be assailants will be dettered by the sight or thought that their victim does or may have a hand gun having that little bit of knowledge is worth a million bucks to me and yes i do carry a springfield 1911 a1 45 acp loaded with 10 rounds of 230 grain full metal jacket ammo just for the next sucker that may think hell get away with my new 2008 uly , i would rather be prepared for a situation like that than listen to a worthless cop tell me theres nothing he can do but keep his eyes open and file a stolen vehicle report , i know im  but these are real life situations thay may be prevented with a well placed shot or two , and a huge word of advice :IF YOU DONT HAVE A PERMIT , DONT CARRY YOUR HAND GUN TILL U HAVE IT , MOST COPS WILL FREAK THE HECK OUT AND PROBABLY TAKE YOU TO JAIL FOR A , 1. EITHER UNREGESTERED HAND GUN , . 2. A HAND GUN WITH OUT A PERMIT. just becouse you have a hand gun and can stick it in your pocket and feel safe from crime dosent mean that when you get pulled over for hooliganism jhonny law wont search , find conficate you and your weapon and give you a huge freakin fine to boot, not to mention that they can also impound you scooter as long as your detaineed, and even longer depending on the magistrate. i know this is turning in to a pros and cons of being a hand gun owner article but if any thing i have said either saves your life , your bike, or prevents any undue injustice from the law maybe it will have been worth you reading this ,till next time keep the rubber side down and the shiney side up , uly man |

Wow, it's great to see all these comments from freedom loving people. I've noticed that most people who ride, and not just own, motorcycles are also pro second amendment. We also have nothing but respect for those in uniform and are thankful for them. We like our freedoms and are willing to fight for them. Kind of makes this an even nicer place to hang out! Gives me that nice warm fuzzy feeling like when you put 9 rounds into a quarter size group at 25 yards! |
