Right or wrong, I always judge a rider by where they place their feet on their footpegs. I was taught to ride by placing the balls of your feet on the footpegs instead of having them mid-foot. You feel better balanced when you ride on your 'tippy toes'...I'm just wondering if anyone else shares this perception...Don't be offended. Thanks!

If I'm droning slab, my feet could end up just about anywhere.
When I'm doing hard twisties, yep on the balls of my feet.

I can tell when my feet are out of position because I drag my toes.

Tippy toes for me.

I feel more planted and it's easier to move around on the bike.

If you aren't riding with your toes on the pegs, you basically handicap yourself as you can't use your calf muscles to assume proper body position.

Balls of my feet.

I've also found that if I keep the arch of my feet on the pegs, the vibration through the pegs is more noticeable.

the same as ft. not to mention if i'm on the super slab with the xt, dangling down to the sides. can't keep my legs in the same position for any great length of time. and with the height of the xt i can dangle and not even touch the ground unless i'm going around a bend.

When I'm cruising/flying/hauling-A? Balls of the feet. When I'm fighting through traffic? Normal center-of-the-foot placement for optimal access to gear shifter and brake.

But when I'm cruising and it gets a little toasty on the inner thigh, I plant the center of my right heel firmly on the end of the footbeg (so it can easily pivot) and hang my knee out to let some air in!

Balls of the foot unless I'm shifting. As others have said, best body movements are made from the balls of the foot........any sport, not just bike riding.

On the balls... easier to maneuver, more control & less perceived vibration.

As others note, flatfooted in traffic, etc.

Like Ft and Hooper, However on long runs on super slab I amy put feet on rear pegs just for change of leg placement.

Tripp kept yelling at me on the track to get on my toes, so now I tend to do that more often than not. Especially since it lets me tuck in behind the bike a little more in the bad weather, which is about all we've been getting here lately. Traffic with lots of shifting/braking, arch of my foot. Slab or twisties at speed, toes. Keeps me from dragging the toes of my 13s on the ground!

+1 on what "Hooper" said!

Can't ride in these hot Texas days without being able to hang that right knee out in the wind for a little "air conditioning"
