Court, he is on his second set of bearings in 6k miles. I'd be a bit upset too.

I would have been as well.

Speak of the devil...

My third wireform snapped today... Luckily I wasn't trusting and had it backed up with a wire tie.

1st @ 20 miles (melted clutch cable)
2nd @ 700 miles (saved by wire tie)
3rd @ 5,200 miles (saved by wire tie)

Looks like I'll be getting the new version soon.

Got my new one in today. Pretty stout piece. If this one breaks you hit a semi at high speed. (c;

Damn, I am going to bring mine to the dealer to get one installed. That looks better than the mangled c-clamp I put on mine.

Chris, you can put one on in less than ten minutes, and save the labor charge. All you need for tools are two 10mm wrenches, and a T-27 Torx wrench. While you're at it, you can give the clutch cable a shot of lube.

Is there any "recommended/preferred" method for installing this? Would it involve a little bending?

I think the best way is to disconnect the clutch cable and run it through. I guess you could bend the prongs out to fit the cable in.

- 10mm for the clutch cable adjuster?

I thought it was 9/16" for the locknut and 1/2" for the adjuster but ICBW.

Method - Loosen the clutch cable adjuster to provide slack, remove the cable from the lever, remove the old wireform from the front mount, pull the cable down & out of the dash, slip off the old wireform, drop the new guide onto the cable (ensure correct orientation), replace cable, fasten new guide to front mount, adjust clutch cable, done.

To remove the cable from the lever, you need to pull the pivot pin; which is what you need the two 10mm wrenches for.

If you loosen the adjuster mid-cable, it gives you enough slack to pull the end of the sleeve off the perch at the handlebar and pull the cable out of the lever. No pivot pin removal required.

I attempted to post yesterday but I could not find it. I replaced the wire form on my Uly and Sara's Scg with the new form. Just bent the new form so the cabl ewould fit in then bent it back. Very little bending required. Used wire cutters and cut of the old wire form. One bolt holding the form in. Took about five minutes for both bikes. Took more time getting the tools and locking agent for the new form.

Hey Uly1080 thanks for the part number on that wireform upgrade. Buell Canada had them in stock and it took a total of 2 days to get mine in. I will do the install on it tonight.
