I try to keep the top box empty or nearly so in order to have someplace to secure the helmet.

I either stuff mine in a side case (top case carries my spare belt, tools, spare shield, hat, extra gloves, liners etc...

Or I just toss it over a mirror...or I latch it on the clutch side handlerbar. WIth the stock hand guards it was easy. Just unlatch the end and slide it on. Now with the Cycra's... it's a bit harder. but it's also a Nolan, so it has that funky ratcheting strap.

Quote from the parts guy at the local kahowazukiya shop when I asked him what he thought about the drop it/replace it rule: "When I get a new helmet I go out and throw it on the pavement a few times just to get it over with." After that I guess it doesn't matter where you hang it.

Hahaha.

Last w/end was in too public a place (and too wet)to leave the helmets on the bikes.
It's UKBEGs 10th anniversary do tomorrow so I'll endeavour to get some shots again but they're forecasting snow/sleet so I doubt many will ride there, let alone leave their helmets on the bikes.

In South Dakota I see more riders without then with. I have never seen someone put a helmet on the footpeg. Mine goes on a mirror, in the top or side case, or on the lock depending on circumstances. I also sometimes put it on the triple tail.

Here we go,a few people rode to the anniversary do and one couple kindly left their helmets locked with a cable lock on the mirrors of their Uly:

You know those cable locks that come with pistols in the US? Yup perfect for a quick lock onto the handlebars or any other loop. Because they are coated in plastic so they don't scratch your gun they also don't cause a problem with your paint on the bike or helmet.

I've thought about that myself, and you can buy them keyed-alike in packs IIRC.

Usually we carry our lids around with us unless the sidecases are empty, or one locked to the standard lock if I have the patience at the time.

Couple of weeks ago I saw a laptop locker at Best Buy. Combo lock and 3' of light cable, self-contained with a reel. I know it's probably defeatable but I've been using it only in public places when our whereabouts aren't really evident.

I like the license plate frame dual-lock devices I've seen also. Pretty expensive though, but maybe because the ones I've seen are in BMW shops.

I hang mine in various places. I also have a Nolan with quick release chinstrap. Sometimes I snap it onto the passenger handles, sometimes I hang it from the rear passenger pegs (pointed up) or the passenger peg heel guard works pretty well too.
