If you are planning on a trip to Alaska on an 08 Uly, you might want to carry extra gas. Cause 160 miles is all you are going to get out of a tank (unless mileage really increases after a few thousand miles), and some of the good roads are going to require another couple of gallons. Usually there is gas every 100 miles or so, but if you are planning on a stop being there with gas, and its closed, then you may be in a pickle. |

Ya, I thought of that, check out the site, tourtank.com , they make a fuel cell that straps on the back rack, from 1.5gal. to 7 gal. size, I will probably put on the 3.5 gal. size, figure on getting over 300 miles between fill ups if I want. Probably use tank panniers to make up some of the loss of packing space giving up the top trunk. |

The tourtank is pretty cool. Even looks like a Keg. Better than bungee cording on a 2.5 gallon plastic jug. 3.5 gallons of gas is about 28 pounds, not counting the tank itself - probably comes in around 40 pounds. I had about the same weight in equipment across my back seat (not a XB12x) - used it as a back rest. |

one more thing that I am considering is a set of Heli bars, adjustable handlebars, going across the interior of the continent, whether in the US or Canada is 2000 miles of flat straight road cruising, and being able to lean back against a back rest of sorts would give me better riding position, does anyone have any experience with them, if so, would you recommend them? |

I called them last week, they have been put on buells before. They haven't been "proven" yet, so they can't offer them as such, but, if they have the measurements of your tubes, in micrometers, they can be fit to the Buell. |
