I've been searching for an exhaust leak to explain the very loud and frequent decel popping i have going on and noticed that some gas escapes around the right side of the exhaust valve on my Uly... the valve feels really loose and rattles a lot, i can move it side to side about 2 or 3mm but can't seem to tighten it easily. Is this normal, or should i be trying harder to tighten it? Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, I've ordered a service manual but it hasn't arrived yet, i searched for the answer in previous posts but had no luck. BTW, I'm running a Termignoni pipe which retains the function of the stock valve. Thanks for your help

Never heard of a Termignoni on a Uly, much less one with a stock valve.

The popping is probably a result of the Termi... regardless of it has a valve or not. Even my mostly stock setup pops a little.

I will assume the "exhaust valve" you speak of is the one on the muffler can, not the one in the head.
In that case, yes that is likely the problem. Exhaust should not exit the system anywhere except the tail pipe outlet(s.)
I don't know if that is repairable, maybe a call to the manufacturer is in order.

Teeps, you're right, I did mean the valve just before the muffler; the Termi can is mounted after the valve, retaining the valve's function as with the stock pipe. Is it normal to be able to move it side to side so much, or should i try to tighten it?

Reepicheep, I live in Australia, so most of the exhaust options used by people on this board (drummer, special ops) are a bit hard to come by here due to the shipping costs, I understand Termignoni distribute this pipe in Australia and Europe but not in the USA for some reason.
Here is a link to someone's installation of one..

Littletree,
I have the noticed the same problem with my Termi, exhaust gas and rattle. The exhaust leak is do to the diameters of the header and the Termi inlet pipe not being the same size and no way to tighten it. The rattle is from the hardware that holds the valve in place. I'm moving to Italy in a couple of weeks and will be hanging out with several folks that have the Termi installed and I'm going to see what they've done, if anything, to eliminate these problems.
The decel popping is a fact of life but from what I understand can be minimized by using ECMspy to adjust the FI map, if you're brave!

A decel pop caused by a leak in the exhaust system cannot be reduced or fixed by remapping the ecm.
