I saw the nice write up with pictures that Maximum did on the Autocomm install. The Zox Corsa that was used got me to thinking it might be a great way to try out a full face helmet for not so much money. So, I looked at the helmetharbor site and I see the Zox Corsa, but, I also see the Azuma, Tavani, Supercomp, and Spectra. Now, I'm confused again. Which one? I see Webbikeworld did a nice write-up on the Azuma. Maximum ... how did you decide on the Corsa? Thanks. Steve | ||

Wow Steve...now I'm confused! I ordered mine from http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com/ and they only offered the Corsa R, and the Tavani in street full face helmets. I had ordered the a Corsa R (priced at $89) for one of my kids and a more expensive helmet for me. When they arrived the Corsa ended up fitting me perfectly, it was more comfortable, and it had less wind noise than the other $350 helmet I purchased. I returned the $350 helmet, and thought about now trying an Arai, but then figured that I could buy about 5 Zox helmets for the price of one Arai. So I decided to purchase two more Corsa helmets (different sizes) and one Tavani (only because I needed a 2XS for my youngest child). The only difference between the Corsa and the Tavani is the fabric used in the interior, everything else was exactly the same. They share the same parts and both liners are fully removable, just the Corsa has a little softer fabric than the Tavani, although it is not as plush as the Arai Profile. I am not familiar with any of the other models, although the dual visor modular would be tempting to try. The quality of the Zox helmets seems to be very good, and is Snell and DOT rated. I'm sure there are better helmets out there, but for $89 the Zox Corsa R can't be beat! | ||

Using a Nolan N42 3/4 with the flip front screen. Visor catches the wind and opens when looking back for traffic. Other than that, the Nolan is very comfortable and I'm one of the few that really likes the quick release chin strap. | ||

I'm a "D" ring guy. Another reason why I like the Zox. | ||

Well ... in my never ending quest to research every option under the sun and therefore prevent buyer's remorse (which never happens of course), I ran across the SparX S-07 helmet for 109.95 which meets both the DOT and the ECE 22.05 safety standards. HelmetHarbor, which does some testing and rating of their helmets, says it's their favorite choice now in this price range. They give it good marks for wind noise, ventilation, and light weight. The SparX company also has a rather unique crashed helmet exchange program. Supply a police report and send them the crashed helmet and they will send you a brand new replacement free. Then ... I got sidetracked again by the one with the Hornet graphic on it. I thought it looked cool but now I'm up at the 139.95 price. At this price, however, they do include a free additional smoked visor. After reading return policies, ended up ordering from Competition Accessories (compacc.com) which had it for the same price, free shipping and no sales tax. I'm with Gatlin. Used to HATE helmets. Never did me any good and twice were instrumental in going down. I wrecked a lot as a kid but never broke any body parts except teeth(3 in a bad lowside on Mt Palomar). Got a Nolan N100 about 5 years ago and LOVE it. Especially the latch, never did like D-rings. Still wearing the N100, finally going to replace it in another month or two with a new Nolan modular. Z | ||

Anyone know if the Zox modulars are a round or oval profile. I have tried on every modular that I can get my hands on but none of them fit my misshapen head correctly. I am stuck wearing hella expensive Arai's because they are the only helmet I have found so far that fits correctly. | ||

I don't really know, but I have a huge head also and my XXL Zox is not big enough. I'm guessing that it is round based on the fact that the helmet is too small for me in the forehead and the back of the head. Even after taking the liner out and carving away a bit of the foam it is too painful to wear for more than a couple of hours. That will be the last time I ever buy a helmet online without trying it on first... Another opportunity at a really nice inexpensive helmet are KBC helmets sold by "roseburg.c.c" on E-Bay. I just purchased a TK-9 at $49 plus $15 for shipping. This guy seems to be selling last year's models at super prices. These are really nice quality helmets, even at retail ($200 or so). I've got two KBC's now and just purchased another. |
