Yes, I've taken it upon myself, free of charge, to name the up and coming Rotax powered Ulysses. Here are my design parameters, again unpaid consultant work. Buzz-free mirrors. It would be real handy if the instrument readout included things such as oil pressure/temp and level, O2-readout per cylinder (so I don't have to pull coil over plugs to check burn), auto-atomic clock, both head temps, mpg and miles until reserve, trouble code readout (and not blinking lights), ambient outdoor temp, No rubbing wires or cables. Couple of inches of suspension adjust-ability. Fog lamps as standard so we aren't forced to rigging up something like most of us have had to do. Heated grips with sliding thermostat. The 2008 Hi/lo is apparently too hot on Hi setting to use. Self cancelling turn signals. This is a safety concern for all of us. Decent wind screen option for those of us who like unbuffeted heads and no hearing loss. Center stand availability (option for those who want one). Flex fuel so that no matter what's available the bike will be able to burn it. No reason for anyone to whine about pinging, please, I beg of you. No engine-heat-cooking-leg problems that we have to figure out ourselves. No engine-heat-cooking-ass problems that we have to figure out ourselves. Stainless steel oil plug that threads into stainless steel female thread. Enough of the SS threading into aluminum stripping problems. Wheel bearings that live up to the advertised "Adventure Touring Motorcycle" moniker. By-wire throttle and clutch. 70+ mpg. | ||

Oh yes, a baffle that allows the seat to warm up with engine heat during cold weather. Buell, it's time to really shine with your guys' engineering talents and intestinal fortitude. | ||

70+ mpg. Ain't gonna happen with the Rotax engine. By-wire throttle and clutch. Haven't tried it on a bike, but i by-wire controls on cars Wheel bearings +1 oil plug Seems like everyone that has stripped it has used the incorrect torque from the book. No engine-heat-cooking- Never been a real issue for me. pinging Never had a issue with pinging. I can only ping if i run the bike on 87 octane. Flex fuel No E85 near me, but would be nice bonus. +1  Center stand +1 wind screen Another thing that comes down to preference, but i never had an issue with my stock short giving buffeting or too much wind noise. I'd be happy if an 1125X came with: - 19/17 wheels - 8" of suspension travel front and back - wheel bearings made to play in the dirt - crash-proof radiator shrouds (you know it's going down) I'm assuming it'd be a Uly-ized version of the 1125R, meaning the same frame, larger fuel-capacity, etc. | ||

Turn signals. Maybe it's because I don't look down enough or that I'm 6'+ with the 06' tall seat ( head is long way from instruments). It usually only happens when I'm stopped at a traffic light a few minutes and then forget all about them after I turn. Changing lanes never seems to be a problem. Anyway, I wish they'd self cancel like the Harley's do. As for how they give us buzz-free mirrors, I don't care, just so they are. What's different about the Turonos?? The 17" front wheel IS really squirrely on rocky trails. Not confidence inspiring at all. | ||

The main place I come unstuck with the turn signals is after riding a Harley. You get used to not having to. Going from a Harley to metric cruiser stuffs me up too. I forget to cancel on the copies often - mind set is the bike will do it for you. But Yamazuki don't They have the idiot lights out of eye line mounted on the tank. good point. | ||

I like the old "Thunderstorm" motor in the ULY I just wish the FI was more spot on..I have a Rotax powered Aprilia Tuono it is a badass bike but the ULY is great fun. The Aprilia motor would be "overkill" in the ULY...mousetrap city.... Just give me more lights, Hell any kind of lights, headlights, fog lights, landing lights, even Christmas tree lights would help... | ||

flippin gas gauge or run meter underseat exhaust for more ground clearance (yeah I know mass cent, but I want the clearance UNDER the bike more) get the 5.6 gallon capacity of the 1125R lighter, overall vehicle weight stump puller 1st gear, long tall mutha for 6th Fat bob lights (two bright H7s on at the same time what a concept) Meaty knobbie tread. And the dream job of desert testing and demoing the bike for 6 months before they hit the sales floor (as long as we are all dreaming) | ||

There are plenty of "dual sport" bikes out there with dirt friendly wheels and such. The Ulysses is, and should remain, a big comfortable sport bike. Keep the 17" wheels, give it the 1125 motor, and get the heck out of my way! | ||

All you AC lovers gotta realize that the WC will be stronger, faster, lighter, and just way cooler. But the AC can be cheaper, more reliable, less maintnance. Maybe these are more important to me than stronger, faster, lighter. Which set of Pro's do you perfer? | ||

I want smoother, with a higher rev ceiling so I don't hit the rev limiter, and an engine that doesn't shake my fillings out at idle. I also like WC engines when you get stuck in traffic. | ||

19" front at least, I fear a 21" is too much to ask I'd rather it have an 18" rear wheel too, so as long as we're wishing... 21" and 18" wheels !! 8 or 9 inches of suspension travel at least crash protection skidplate light weight retain the good gas mileage, even if we have to give up a little performance retain the good seat do it fast, so I don't sell everything and buy an HP2 or KTM Adventure, or GS Adventure | ||

I agree with most of the request but since so many of us want a more dirt worthy Uly I'd like to have the wheels, whatever they size, be available with spokes! And I'm not talking about the 2800 euro alpina wheels that are available, they need to be affordable. | ||

" Interesting statement considering that Rotax motors generally are the most powerful and fuel efficient in their class. Also, having 145HP or 45HP makes no difference in the real world when the torque is Mack truck strong and flat. How I prefer to ride requires Torque. Truthfully, I would love a Turbo Diesel bike. They should stuff the 1.2L VW TDI in it. As far as teh Rotax though, even if it ended up losing some MPG, I would give that up in trade for a motorcycle that is ridable from June thru August without blisters, heat exhaustion, and sweat soaked clothing. Looking over the list of requests, I don't care for most of them. Rotax WC power would improve the motorcycle tremendously to me. I don't want different sized wheels, I want tires that are a tad more dirt worthy in the original size. Here in the sand where I live, I find the stock size actually handles the sand better due to width. I just need a more aggressive rear tire. Cruise control would be greatly appreciated. For the love of everything that is holy, please do not have drive-by-wire throttle. There is not a vehicle on earth that I can't detect it on. They are never correct at miniscule throttle input or with quick reactions either. The last thing I need is a flaky throttle while trying to do a low speed manuever. I am opposite, And one thing to ad for a more dirt worthy Uly I would also like a bit more rake and trail. Get that front wheel out there a bit more. I would think a jump to a 21 inch front would force that but you never know. Also wheels in the bigger sizes that will support the weights we want to carry. 2up, bags loaded, extra fuel on top whatever, etc.. I seem to remember most 21 inch front wheels having load limits below what the Uly ridden 2up and loaded would need. I could be wrong though. I just don't want to change one tire availability problem for another. Disclaimer is I haven't looked for a larger since the early 80's. | ||

Personally I feel this AC vs WC is nothing to argue about between ULY riding friends. If we are really lucky, Buell will provide both and I'm guessing that it will probably be that way as long as it make business sense. That is what it will all boil down to and there should be no argument about that. Continued improvement on the AC model and a new and exciting WC model for those of us who yearn for that.
