Are you talking about the ECM wires? Do you have the tall block on one end of the ECM? | ||

Is this the ECM wiring rubbing on the bottom of the seat, near the plug? | ||

I have the problem on my City-x. It is the wire bundles that attach to the ECM unit. My dealer painted some black stuff over the wires. I think I am going to have to cry warranty issue. It looks like the city cross seat is the culprit. I really don't know what to do. How should I go about getting the issue fixed and what would be the fix? Having all new wires replaced? Let me know what you find out. It is not a big deal to me as long as it doesn't get worse. BTW this happened within the three months of having the bike and I have had it for a year this week. I think the fix for the ECM chaffing is a spacer that attaches to one of the ECM mounting bolts. | ||

Yes. I wrapped the wires with foam tape 3mm thick. | ||

Make sure the wire harness is pushed down as far as it will go. Sometimes they aren't. | ||

I couldn't tell from the pic if you have the spacer block installed on your ECM? | ||

Spacer block? What's it look like? I can push those wires down, but they pop right back up. It looks like I can just zip tie that bundle to the one below it to hold it down, though. | ||

Zipping the wires down can help. The spacer block goes next to the ECM. It's attached with one of the ECM mounting bolts, and helps keep the seat from making contact with the ECM connectors. | ||

I have the spacer. It goes on the bolt closest to engine. For me, my seat still rubs on the top of the ECM. You see the 006 on the ECM, mine is almost scratched off now. I have the 2006 low seat and I'm only about 160#. No way can I be too heavy. My seat doesn't rub on the ECM wires or that thick wire though. | ||

Yup,I've got that issue too-I used Duct tape as a quick fix but prefer the cable tie idea (I've got a fetish for them anyway) It's a pain in the arse but I need to check the wires etc under the airbox very soon for the same thing and don't want the hassle of getting the dealer to do it. |
