Found a dealer close by that was willing to do an '06 new OTD for $10k. Turns out they are not very pro Buell and on the initial inquiry offered up that they may "drop" the line....but anyways trying to compare this deal to an '07 that if I search nation wide I could probably get $10-$10.5K OTD plus $600 shipping or a fly-in ride back deal which would probably be nearly the same as shipping...but way more fun. The remaining comparison is to go for an '06 used which seem to be going for $8500 on avg on eBay.

Interested in the opinion of some BADWEBBER's on which deal make more sense. No doubt about it I gotta give the Uly a go!!

The dealer issue isn't that big of a deal, except for recall stuff. $50 for a service manual and $200 for the VDSTS software, along with hand tools allow you to get the maintenance done.

Most of the 07 upgrades are affordable, but you are taking over a year in depreciation when you roll out the door. If you are planning on keeping the bike for a while that will be less of an issue.

Firstbatch,
Remember that there is a VDSTS 50 miles down the road when you need a TPS reset or any diagnostics done. Save the two bills for bags.

My advice is to find a used '06 and save a couple thousand or more. I bought an '06 with 1050 miles on it for about $8200+$600 dealer prep fee (yes, I argued the point on a used bike, so they lowered the bike price, but would not change the fee) last September. Bought it from H-D/Buell in Ocala FL. Not a scratch on it. It was only 3 months old at the time (built 6/06). Use the poor resale on Buell's to your advantage. The new '06 will drop 2 grand when you take the keys.
If you want the new '07 stuff, use the money you saved to buy the fork springs. Switch to Pirellis when you wear out the Dunlops (which is quickly), and you can buy the lower seat if you are vertically challenged (I intentionally wanted the '06 seat, but have a 36" inseam).
If you just cannot wait or find a used one, go with the '07 if it is within a few hundred bucks, so it will not be 1 year old as soon as you roll it out the door.

6k hard miles on my stock dunlaps so far, and they look good as new, really impressed with em, bought up the dealers last set since they were getting synch's. Run the right PSI for the tire and they work well, reccomends 40 i think and i run 36 and get great traction and awesome life.

Davo, I guess your bike is gone to Texas...if I can find another I will come your way for a ride! Thanks for the opinions guys, it is a true fact these Buells drop in price pretty quick and then I guess settle down. No worse than BMW which really take a first year hit!

Saw a nice 2000 S3T with low miles go for $5900 on eBay yesterday when NADA had avg retail at just about $4600. I'l keep looking for a '06. About a month ago when I first started having an interest in the Uly a dealer in Ohio had 4 new '06 on eBay going for $8900 to $9200. Seems like a helluva lot of bike for that amount of money!

On the Dunlops: I check air pressure religously, and always have them at the 38psi the '06 manual recommends. I only weigh 170 lbs, and ride about 75% solo.
3500 miles and they are to the wear bars in the rear. No burnouts. A few wheelies. Maybe Florida heat and flat roads were too much for the Dunlops. Who knows, but I won't spend more money on them to find out. I have had great success with the Sync's on my KTM, and had very good results on Pirelli's with my Ducati, so it makes sense for me, even if not for everyone. Just never been a Dunlop fan from a wear perspective, going back to my dirt bike days. I may even go with a sport touring tire, since I have the KTM if I really want to get dirty.
