One of my favorite things on BadWeb is looking at other members bikes and also seeing what customizations they have done. For anyone interested here is mine. I just changed the things I didn't like. Should I have bought a Lightning long to start with, maybe?

My Ulysses

Changes From front to back.

Lightning front fender.
Custom brackets to lower headlight 1.25" just because I like the way it looks.
Trackside Engineering lowered suspension 1.5".
Chopped recall kickstand to match lowering.
A little paint on the front pulley cover.
Special Ops Tailgunner exhaust.
06 low seat.
Powder coat rear spring black.
Lightning rear fender.
Custom lower belt guard.
Lightning upper belt guard.
Trojan Horse tail section painted gloss black with clear, matches plastic perfect.
Custom turn signal brackets.

Things you cant see.

Both headlights burn with H4's, high & low beam work.
Air box mod, holes in left side same size as right.
Small hole in bottom rear of airbox so any water can drain out.
K&N filter
Magnecor plug wires.
Race ecm.
Custom brackets inside tail section, Buell side bags still fit.
Fan mod, FAN TURNS OFF WITH KEY SWITCH. Easy mod can be completely removed or
installed within 1 minute.

I wonder if the BAS recall is going to fit inside the short tail section? May have to bolt the old tail on get the recall done then take it back off, don't know. The aux power port still fits in there. What do ya think?

Pretty cool mods. Did you also paint the outer part of the wind protectors silver or is that just a reflection?

I too have lowered my Uly 1.5" but still run the standard seat. I chose the Uly over other models because of the seat-to-footpeg distance for my long legs. I just didn't care for the long reach to the ground.

I forgot to ask, how did you get in touch with Trackside Engineering? I can't find a phone number and they haven't replied to an e-mail inquiry.

Hey George

I PM'd you Tracksides phone#. I originally contacted them by email. He explained to me that he is very busy. It took about a month turnaround on my suspension. Also had to shorten rear spring another .5 inch after getting it back from Trackside to level bike out. Thats why the powder coat on spring, burnt paint off with torch! No paint on windscreen all kinds of weird reflections in picture sun was to the left.

Hi Mark,

Many thanks for the PM and the knowledge that I am not being "blown off", they're just very busy. I'm in no big rush as I have already lowered the bike using a XB9 rear shock and raising the forks in the triple clamps. I just would like to get the original shock rebuilt to get the same amount of lowering and revalved and resprung to handle my (heavy) weight better.

Regarding the painting, I wasn't very clear that I was asking about the hand guard instead of the wind screen.

Captain, I actually looked at the Kellermans. They seemed kind of expensive. Maybe I'll shop around. I noticed your sliders that would probably be money better spent, as I have laid mine down once already. How I got away without swingarm or fork damage is a mystery.

Yeah, Sliders were one of tye First Things I Bought...
Kellermans ARE Expensive, but Brilliant... twice as Bright also believe it or not.

My "Uly" is actually a City-X. It does have some suspension limitations. And is NOT good for single track (Danno!) But I will take it to task with any Uly on a fire road, county road or forest service road.
Scg Seat, Blast Bars, Buell Race Pipe, Valencia Orange body work, and the Uly front fender set. Pic in profile

That does look good. Looks like a TT to me, without the # plates. These bikes are cool in that you can swap parts between the models.

Very, very clean, I like it alot. Now if I maybe so rude as to suggest a few more things to grace your smooth bike. 1-Swap out the "mickey mouse ear" mirrors for set of bolt on Aprila mirrors. 2-Also maybe a set of rear sliders from whitehorse to cover the rear axle hole with a nice black anodized piece, and 3-a black paint job on the inside of the front screen like dangerouse dave's. Sorry if I am being intrusive on what is already a very clean bike. I also keep going back to your photo, I think it is a truly good pic. and if you do not mind I am going to use it as my wallpaper on my office computer for awhile.

Already have black sliders for the rear coming from Dark Horse Moto. I looked up the post where Dave and others did the inside of their windscreen black, like it. Looks like it would be so easy a Psychologist could do it. That probably doesn't make any sense to you. lol

Mramsey,

Very nice looking Uly. Well thought out and great attention to detail.

+3 on losin the factory mirrors, once you change the mirrors it will seem like a new bike again!

How did ya do the H4 conversion, and are you still running the factory reflectors, and at what wattage?

Once again, Sharp bike man.

treadmarks,
Is that the corbin seat? How do you like it? How's the seat height compared to the factory low?

Nothing special about the headlight, all stock. Just stuck H4 bulbs in and wired the high beam filament to high and the low beam to low. After adjusting the low beam pattern the highs are about right maybe a little high but I like em. This has all been talked about in previous threads. Thats where I got the idea.

Terry I like your smoke Zero gravity tall windscreen it looks a lot like the California, thought it was till I checked your profile.

Xb,
Comfort is great. Fit is awesome. I have the stock, the low and the corbin and prefer the comfort and height of the corbin as it is about the same height as the low only more comfortable. However, my seat is leather carbon look and is slicker than a chicks panties on prom night. I ride to work everyday, (even in the rain) and I have slid back and forth so much, that the seat is wearing out from seam to seam in the middle. I called corbin's customer service and they said it is not designed to get wet...go figure. It will cost more to recover it in vinyl than I paid for the seat to start with...

Sorry for the hijack.

I saw the Cali Sci and it looks similar. It seems to flow pretty nice with the rest of the bike. Kinda makes it look like a pizzed off armadillo with pinkeye!

I was asking about the H4 conversion to see how the reflectors were holding out. I had problems with the stockers after about 3 months with 65 watt bulbs. Seems like the heat got to them, but I should have vented them when I did the bulb upgrade-my bad.

If you are using 55 watters- both on, be careful with your wires and switches as the wires are pretty small and I'm not sure what the switches are rated at as far as direct load goes. I checked my voltage at my headlight while idling, and it was 1.5 volts lower than my battery. I just installed relays and dedicated wiring for both headlights and the new horn, and now the lights have the same volts as the battery. Lights are brighter and the horn is louder.

Just passing on some info, and that is one great looking ride man.

Terry

Thanks for the heads up. Everything you mentioned was thought about when it was originally done. I took the lazy mans approach with the intention of adding relays after testing the beam Patten on the road. Well it is later and I do have everything here (relays, wire) to do the job. As far as the reflector heat problem. I have a small fan that mounts inside the middle marker light hole, sucks the heat out.

It's funny how one man wants to lower his Uly and another like you wants to raise it. Are your forks lowered in the clamps?

Good spot. Lowered to flush on the top clamp. Was just an experiment. For me, it seemed to help my low speed (parking lot speed) agility. Probably just in my head tho.
