Danger Dave, Outstanding! Very nicely done. The points you make are the best features of the Ulysses. Low maintenance, street performance, and versatility. I really think that most of the press sells the Buell line short because they hop on it, blast it around a racetrack, shoot it through the 1/4 mile and then they are done with it. To really appreciate the Buell bikes you need to live with them for a while and do your own maintenance and pay the bills for what it costs to own it verses some other bike. I never want to own another bike without hydraulic valve adjusters. The more I ride my Ulysses the more I like it. Too bad that winter still has my bike locked away in the corner of the garage. Snowing here today... Anyway, good to see a longer term view of the bike reviewed as compared to a 1 day test. | ||

Good stuff! I love everything about my Buell except trying to explain to the unenlightened squid types that you don't need 150hp on the street, anyone can go fast in a straight line, and it's NOT a Harley motor. Then I politely invite them to ride some of my favorite twisty backroads strewn with wet leaves, potholes the size of swimming pools, gravel in the corners, mud at the end of unpaved driveways, etc. No one has accepted the challenge yet.  | ||

Nice job Dave! I would also like to thank you for the original XB12X report you did in late 2005. I had been sniffing around reading reports from all over the Web but your particular report hit the spot. At the time I couldn't get a test ride on a XB12X here in Australia for love nor money and really appreciated your 'real-world' report. I'm afraid that you had this wide-eyed old bloke hook, line and sinker when you finished up your report by the old ' I liked it so much I bought one for myself' angle. 30,000Km later and like many of the others on this board I have had this great machine become something of an obsession.
