Anybody know of any windshields besides the Cee Bailey air noise deafeners? I've got a Cee Bailey 16" and it creates way too much turbulence for my 6' 1/2" height. I'd like something that is even wider and taller for trips. I'm not interested in being driven into my seat for hours by the wind. Around town I have been riding without any shield, not even the stock and it is alright because of the smooth airflow. But I want complete shield protection for the long haul and without helmet turbulence making me deaf even with ear plugs. Any ideas?

buy a different bike. Really. This is a naked bike. You want total protection, get a full on touring bike.

Take a look at the thread "Uly Tall Shield
Change?". You might benefit from the slot job
they are talking about, plus some good earplugs. Also call Cee Bailey's and *itch
about I mean discuss your experience with them. When I told them I was being buffeted to an early grave they said they never heard ANYBODY ever say anything about buffeting from
their Uly shields. You and I both know that is a bunch of ****.

I still say it will be hard to beat the Laminar Lip. I have had mine since I bought the bike and love it. I rode it to Daytona, about 1800mi. round trip and it performed wonderfully. It raises the air to the chin bar on my helmet and is somewhat adjustable.( I am 6')It is only $79. Hard to beat.

Amen to the Laminar Lip. It seems we've been down this road before. Quit trying all the barn doors and get the lip. You won't have that nasty buffeting you get with all the other windshields. Your upper body gets plenty of protection and your head stays in nice clean air. Taller is not always better.

You've got the tallest windshield made right now; any taller and I'd start worrying about the thing snapping at the attachment point.

If you want total wind protection, get a Wing, or maybe just take the car.

Seriously, like Aeholton said, bigger isn't always better when it comes to screens. Try something shorter that will take the windblast off your chest, but leave your head in clean air.

I don't want to hear about my choice of bikes from anyone. It's kinda like me telling you how to cut your damn hair, it's none of my business now is it. For those of you telling me I've got the wrong bike, wake up and notice that I'm Electraglider. Ya know what an Electraglide is don't ya. I don't mind riding a naked bike around town and actually prefer it that way for around town jaunts. But if I plan to ride all day and then the next and next then no way that I'm riding without a nice shield. You want to ride yourself into exhaustion with the wind and bugs and rain trashing ya then great but don't tell me how or what to ride. I've been riding since 1968 and have ridden long distance without a shield and it sucks from my perspective. There are ways to support taller windshields and I'll probably have to add some bracing exactly like Slipstreamer does on their shields (they sell those parts by themselves). One more thing, you'd have to give me the Wing because I wouldn't pay a plug nickle for one of those plastic covered conestogas.

sounds like you need an electraglide instead of a uly. With the geometry of the uly, dont be suprised when you get a tank slapper bolting on a big piece of plastic.
It is your bike, you can do what you want.

You shouldnt shouldnt get pissed when the advice you receive isnt what you want to hear.

Ditto.

Remember, Electraglide, you asked for advice. Step back and take a look at what you are trying to accomplish. Maybe the Uly was the wrong platform for you to start with.

I asked about windshields not whether you want me to put one on or not.

No offense Eglider, but the high mile riders of the Uly dont need to make it look like the popemobile to do it.

I have seen a few set up for distance rides, (aux fuel cell, etc.) and none of them had a windshield taller than the tall factory shield.
When I went to homecoming, I put on over 1k miles in a long weekend. I didnt ride to exhaustion, and I feel it is because I am used to the riding position and how to use the wind rather than fight it.

I would recommend getting used to the difference between riding a cruiser and a more sport oriented bike. You will definately be using different muscle groups on the Uly compared to the glide. It takes time to develop them and get used to the changes. Adventure bikes are a completely different beast, and you have to accept the differences, or choose a bike that fits the style of riding you are after.

I have limited time on forward control (cruiser) style bikes. I find it very uncomfortable, and understand it is because my body has learned a different way to sit on and control a motorcycle.

If you arent doing this, give it a try and see if it helps. It will feel strange at first, but give it a chance.

Ride with the balls of your feet on the pegs instead of hooking your heel against it.
Grip the tank with your knees, not squeezing hard, but in contact.
Use the large muscle groups, your butt and thighs to support your upper body.
You should be able to hold the bars lightly with elbows bent, not locked.

When you do this, you can use the wind to help in supporting your weight, and it makes the ride less tiring. you can also use your weight to help steer the bike better, and press your leg to help turn as well.

I love my Uly, it is the most entertaining, and versatile bike I have ever owned.

I hope you get your wind problem sorted out, and can enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

EG97, Another thought. I'm with you on making the Uly into a long distant touring bike.
I have the CeeBaileys 16", which I like. But I also had the stock seat redone. It was lower and a Pro Pad installed by a local shop. I also had an inch cut out of the passenger seat. So by giving me another inch to the back, it is also lowering my riding position. From the stock upright position to more of a lean to position. Hindsight, I would of had the local shop cut out two inches from the passenger seat.

This may help you find what you're looking for. Instead of going higher on a shield, move the riding position back a little, giving you a lower and closer to the shield riding position. (The local shop charged me $25.00 to make the inch cut.)

I've done three 1000+ mile days in relative comfort.

I'm using a Cee Bailey's 2.5" and it works fine up to about 80mph.

Moral of the story...keep my speeds legal, and it's an all day comfortable, citation free ride.

I dig my CeeBailey's +2.5 too. 7k on mine so far. If I felt like I needed anything much bigger than that, I would sooner leave the bike at home and just take the minivan. I like a little bit of wind.

I have the Laminar Lip and think it's perfect for daily use. I'm with E-Glider tho in that I would like something more for long slab-days. Watching the vented Cee Baileys developments with interest.

I installed the laminair lip as well. It took the force off my chest and moved it up to my neck. I think lowering the seat will help-I've been experimenting with the stock seat and the Corbin seat and I notice a little more wind noise with the Corbin seat- no buffeting with either seat and the lip. With earplugs it is very comfy. It is a good value for the $79. Saeng wants $200 for a similar design. The lip has been flex free up to 90mph
