The only thing I like more that wrenching on motor bikes is surf fishing. The big fish are back at the OBX and I am getting the itch. In the next few days I am going to try to rig my rod gear to my bike and go. Has anyone ever surf fished with a motorcycle? I am about 4 plus hours away and due to the high cost of fuel. I feel it is my duty to my country to get in the wind.

hey dave I'm from the obx and was there about two months ago when the rock and blues were running the trout on the beach anyways get a cheep rod holder from wins and strap everything to the rear seat i have carried a rifle case on the side of my blast and i imagine its about the same just strap it to the right side so you can break and support yourself on the left side and be careful nchp can be real pains just remember you go on vacation and leave on probation in the obx

Installed a rod holder in the touring gear and I am loaded up and ready to roll in the a.m., tackle, cooler, rod, reel, waders, and much more. I will GPS the trip and take some pics.

OBX is the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It's a beautiful coastline being the home of the historic flight of the Wright Brothers and a night-time play of the Lost Colony plus other neat things to do.

Left at 5:30 a.m. and returned home at 9;30 p.m. just at 490 miles and four hours of fishing. Not a nibble but it was a great day. The Uly didn't skip a beat and I got 51 mpg running 60-65mph. It was in the high 70's and once the fan came on it never went off. Well, once again it was a great day!!

I wouldn't get all that aluminum anywhere near the salt spray or you will certainly regret it. Way back in probably 78' when I was in 2nd Force Recon at Camp Lejeune, I took my 77' CB750F north to Atlantic Beach. The salt pitted the heck out of that bike. The bike was at least 100 yds from the Atlantic Ocean. I still have that bike. Keep it away from the surf. You've been warned.
