I have a set on a 1984 R80ST. (kind of like the Uly that BMW put out for only 2 years) They are pretty good tires. I dont ride the bike a lot, but they handle well, and have an even more aggressive tread pattern than the 616 tires do. | ||

All the guys that have been wanting a more off road oriented tire, here is is. I plan on going with a street tire, as I mainly will be touring and playing on the back roads, rather than off road. | ||

What about the rear? The Distanzia's largest is only a 160/60 X 17. It might fit on the rim but it's going to have a much less rounded profile due to being stretched out on the 180 rim of the Uly. So far the Azaro's are working out very well for me so I'm happy for now. BC Steve | ||

the Avons look more like a competitor for the Pirelli sync's. tread looks about the same, and, having run with the syncs on my cityX, that tread ISNT going to be aggressive enough for even light trail work I got the X as a sort of down-sized Uly, and the Pirelli M60 Corsa's are what I'm considering trying when my sync's wear out. talked to a few KTM guys in europe (they were OEM on the KTM duke), and they swear by them. The tread is a lot more aggressive than it looks in that particular photo. Gonna be a while till i get them though, as I only got the X last week! *** the M60 Corsa's are one of the few enduro/dualsprt tires that have a decent speed rating for on-road, too. look closely before buying though, as the M60, and M60 Corsa have different ratings. | ||

Ulendo, When you do, take a before (Sync)/ after (MT60R) photo from the rear so we can see the profile change from the 180 to the 160. Cheers Brett | ||

Soloyosh- will do. here, and on ADVrider, there's been quite a bit of interest in adapting the CityX to more of a dualsport setup, so I intend to document costs, hit/fit issues,options, photos, etc fairly closely the biggest issue with M60's looks like it might be the front fender. probably have to go to a 2 piece high/low setup like the Uly to clear the 130/80 M60 front. havent started in on text stuff yet,(just some basic photos are up) but the site will be at http://www3.telus.net/ulendo/buell.html Found out that a couple of guys were having issues with accessing from non-telus ISP's though: anyone has trouble please let me know, cause I'll have to deal with access control. The pirelli moto catalog says the 160/60 17 mt60 tire will only fit a 5" rim max. The Uly has 5.5" rear rim. Pirelli guy said not to do it... bummer cause those tires look like what I'd want!  | ||

I'll have to double check.local guys run them on all sorts of rims - dealer didnt have a problem with them when I inquired, including warranty on them. FWIW, 160 = 6.3", so the profile is still wider than the rim, and shouldnt be an issue. will change the profile very slightly, but since I really dont plan on trying to make them handle like the sync's... also worth noting - the lip / bead seat on the buell rim is bigger than that found on most of the steel spoked wheels (which are, of course, the primary market for enduro tires) | ||

ben doing some more research, and found out that, similar to the complaint about the Pirelli's only being rated to a 5" rim, SO ARE THE DISTANZA's. that said, Avon make the ProExtreme Rain tire...not only will it fit, but they're the OEM sizes f & r. http://www.avonmotorcycle.com/us/en/Product.asp?ProdType=SuperMotard&SubCat=31 Maybe not as aggressive as many would like, but a decent enduro type tire, suitable for a larger displacement bike. | ||

no clue as to prices. I kind of stumbled onto them - the local Yamaha dealer has built a custom supermoto. Its sitting in their front window as a showpiece. I went to take a look, and lo-and-behold, its got 17" rims with enduro tires...and they're the right sizes! FWIW, they're not all that 'gnarly' to look at, more of a light enduro or high traction type grip. That said, they look like they'd be perfect for gravel, dirt, mud, or fire roads and LIGHT offroading. |
