I am indeed waiting for the Buell luggage for the Ulysses. I paid for the bags as part of the bike purchase, so I'm stuck waiting for my dealer. They, of course, told me that they are back-ordered, not their fault blah, blah, blah...
I'll definitely be contacting Dave for anything else that I need though.

How does anyone who's seen "The long way round" think the Uly would've held up for the adventure? If you don't know, it's a documentary about Ewan Mcgregor and his pal traveling literally around the world, on BMW adventure bikes.. AWESOME dvd by the way.

Angelwild327,

I've seen The Long Way Round and I believe the ULY would perform like a true champ! It's the most incredible bike I've ever owned. My only complaint is the parts guy who knows Buells at Pompano Harley (I think his name is Billy) has been promoted....

After Asia we're touring South America two up, apart from Ewan falling over at every opportunity, I would think this would test the Uly to the same extent!

While those items are nice to have on a DREAM LIST, I prefer something a little more doable.
Like this!

Brat, don't know about weight differences, but it just seems to me like the Uly would be more nimble than the Bm'er...I would love to see a good documentary like that with a Buell at the helm! Good luck in Asia and Sud America!

So, less than two days after my post regarding the 10-week wait for bags, the issue appears to be solved. With assistance from BadWeb members (who may wish to remain anonymous) and Bruce Champion at Buell, I've been informed that my bags have been shipped and I should have them early next week.

The problem appears to have been that my dealer had no clue what the heck they were talking about. I almost left the Buell dealer and bought a Triumph Tiger because a bike without bags is almost worthless to me, for how I use it. I would have missed out on an awesome bike...

I can't imagine dealing with another company that would go out of it's way to get things straightened out the way that Buell (and friends) did. Note that I never called anyone to complain. Dealer says 10-weeks, oh well...I'll suck it up and wear a backpack for the next two and a half months...Think BMW, Triumph, Honda or anybody else would go to the effort of tracking you down to solve a problem that you mentioned on a bulletin board?

Any potential Ulysses buyers who need bags, and might have read 10-weeks in horror, should'nt worry.

So, huge thanks to all who were involved!
