Cool! The low seat will let us shorter folks handle the Ulysses ok. I'm selling the Night Train ASAP.

All I gotta do now is find a black Ulysses with the low seat and hard cases in my area.

I have some crazy ideas with respect to making slight mods to the airbox cover also, just gotta see one in person to know if what I want to do will work.

Before you guys convince Buell to make the low seat standard, let us tall folks have our time in the sun.

In regard to seat height: we mini-me-Buellers are STILL in trouble, even with the inch-an-a-half the low seat provides. But as Jose Quinones posted on SacBorg:

"I think I'll need to take the milkcrate with me or some KISS boots when I demo ride this thing...It seems to me you could take the optional low seat, switch to the XB12 "Long" Forks and Shock, then add the Pirelli Scorpion Syncs and turn the bike into a pure street bike/sport tourer, the Subaru Outback of Adventure Tourers...Then I could probably finally flat foot the thing."

Aha. My thoughts exactly!

That low seat looks great to me. I'm long-legged enough that I probably won't need it to be comfortable on the bike, but it will help. More important to me is that it provides a greater 'step' up from the rider's seat to the pillion seat, which will make it easier for my girlfriend to get a forward view. So maybe we'll both be more enthusiastic about me taking her for a ride.}

Dammit Court!

I forfeit title? Are you sure?

I hate when that happens...

I really love my S2. But I also really love to ride it places (like Yosemite, Big Sur, Ferrisville, etc.). And the luggage on my S2 is just not up to the task!

Plus the XB12X has some gravel road / fire road capability. I like that. I have a DRZ400S that I use for dual sport rides and playing around in the back country, I see the XB12X as a bike I could ride to Alaska. Or to Pike's Peak. And I wouldn't have to be concerned about a little gravel road here and there along the way...

The garage is already full with the cages, the S2 and the DRZ.

<sigh>

Is the new frame longer or just the swingarm? If the new frame is the same length (steering head to swingarm pivot) as the old, then where is it bigger? Just fatter?

From what I have gathered the frame is the same length, just the rails have been widened a bit. Swingarm is the only thing lengthened.

I have been having fun aggravating some of the people on that board. The best they can come up with is I have been "Brain Washed" by Buell. If they spent as much time appreciating their bikes as they do hating Buell, they might enjoy riding more.

Oh I was just having some fun. I decided to pick on Ducati a little, that really got me flamed.

By the way Reg's write up on the Uly was excellent. One of the best bike reviews I have read in a long time. Not because he liked the Buell but because of his writing style.

Good work Reg.

Jim SB,stored is such a "fluid" word,perhaps "maintained"--or "kept up" would be more in line with my "intentions".

Reg's review of the Ulysses carries on his tradition of excellent moto-journalism. I forwarded Reg's review of the Ulysses to a colleague of mine who is always giving me crap like 'When are you going to buy a real bike?' because he is such a staunch BMW rider. (Like my 102,000 mile S2 and nearly 25,000 mile V-Rod aren't real bikes...Especially surprising because he has just asked me to keep my eyes open for a V-Rod for his brother...) Anyways, a little while later I got a reply back from him simply stating:

THIS IS THE BIKE FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He called me shortly after and wants to know where he can test ride one. I know one of the closest Buell dealers will have one in a couple of weeks and the other closest Buell dealer will be getting a visit from me on Friday to find out when they will be getting one in.

Now if this bike and Reg's outstanding review can get this die-hard, German, BMW rider on a Buell...

Is it possible for someone to put his review together and post it here. Blake, if Reg doesn't mind, can you post it here to read. I'm having a hard time reading it over on the other site.
