25000 trouble free miles and then the trouble triangle flashed and she died only to come back to life. This became an unexpected daily pest. I had a test dongle from American Sport Bike purchased years ago and using it to trigger the trouble codes only got me 8 quick flashes over and over ? My unreliable sweetheart is parked until I solve this. Any ideas ? |

Per my '08 electrical diagnostic manual, it seems you are getting the 'intermission' code; although it should be only 6 flashes, if that is what is happening. Only thing I can suggest is to start at the battery and confirm the positive and negative cable connections are clean and tight, both ends. Then confirm the ECU connections are clean and tight, and check any grounds for the same. While Ulys seemed to be the ones with the issue, is the electrical harness being rubbed by the seat bottom, by the ECU? And finally, might try starting the engine with the seat off and wiggling the ECU connectors. If it dies, the ECU connectors may be starting to crack where they enter the ECU body . . . . Remove seat faring cover airbox leave all sensors plugged in. Crank bike let idle and perform wiggle test along the wire harness to the ECM,fuel pump etc..make sure before you start that battery connections are tight. Check all chassis grounds with a test light connected to the positive side of battery then touch the ground terminals. Remove and inspect ECM terminals. and inspect for green/corrosion. |

I think you have a intermittent open. Move the handle bars side to side. The harness from the left side stop to stop with the bike running etc.. |

I had a bad lumpy spot inside the insulation of one of my injector wires. It was found under the air intake cover following the individual injector wires. Had to cut the bad part out and re splice |

Other common if bike rpm fluctuates at idle after bike is warmed up is intake seals. Another issue I had is my bike run like shit every 23 miles. It was a bad O2 sensor no code ever sent. Would be nice to use ECM droid and give your AFV # |

So it looks like 8 flashes means nothing? I would buy Buelltooth dongle and check the trouble codes with ECM Droid application. You are saying it had died once, but now works and gives you just 8 flashes with the dongle you have (which probably means there are no trouble codes in the ECM memory)? Did it die abruptly like you shut the engine down or it was stalling for some time? Did it stall on the go or during pulling off? Are you sure you did not flip the kill switch accidentally during riding? Are you sure you engaged the clutch smoothly and add some throttle during pulling off? Thanks guys. I took it to Latus HD and they reset the TPS followed by a road test,then ran it for awhile on the dyno. So after the holidays I’ll be back ion the road. TPS reset ! |
