A Uly with no wheels! Don't try this at home kids! I'm an idiot!  So the wheels are back on with new shoes and I'm actually painting the muffler!! That's just crazy! | ||

Painting the muffler ain't crazy. I just had mine repainted when it was refurbished by someone in NC. | ||

I sent the entire exhaust from my Uly to Jet Hot and had it coated. | ||

Mine was right rusty.I bought a can of VHT muffler paint and found a sandblaster in Gainsville,he blasted and painted it with my VHT for $20. | ||

I actually found an ancient bottle of Extend. I took a wire brush to the muffler and then coated it with 2 coats of Extend. I don't think they even make this stuff anymore! It worked. All the rust has turned black. As old as this stuff is I was surprised it still worked. | ||

I once tried the anti-seize treatment on my Uly's muffler. Didn't work as well as I hoped. | ||

Greg, After painting it, might I suggest a mud/stone flap. I'm not sure if you remember seeing it on mine, but it's been working great for me. I made it out of a plastic office garbage can, and it will grind itself down to it final shape with use. You do get used to the scraping sound while it's getting there.   | ||

Sorry I won’t be able to make it this year, but man, I’m having real flashbacks about a Buell/Suches event a few years ago. Anyone remember which Buelltoberfest/ March Badness it was when there was a big gas shortage? IIRC it was caused by some kind of pump outage on the Gulf- probably part of the same pipeline that precipitated the current mess. I think I topped off every time I passed a station with gas, because the next 3 might not have any. Nobody had premium either, so I bought a bottle of octane booster, added some at every fill up and passed it around to anybody that needed some. Despite that, I never ran out of gas and it was a great weekend. Hope this one is just as good! | ||

I will fill-up in KY but will be out of the state by probably 0900 on the second day of my trip. Here is a snapshot of my route (without so much interstate, obviously). The news says the pipeline is back up, so hopefully by the 19th (when I leave), finding gas won't be such a concern. I gotta be back on the 24th for nightshift, so we'll see how it works out.  | ||

Anyone remember which Buelltoberfest/ March Badness it was when there was a big gas shortage? I don't remember what year it was, but I remember it cost me a small fortune to get there and back. The Suburban I had at the time had a 42 gallon tank. I never let it get below a half a tank. I know we took about 4-5 extra gas cans with us just in case we couldn't get gas. | ||

Hey Jeff! I remember that picture! It was taken the day before my front fork leaked oil on your perfectly clean garage floor!! I had forgot about your splash guard. Glad it worked out. I ended up putting some fork socks on and haven't had anymore fork leaks. | ||

I think that was the weekend when you bought ALL the pork tenderloins from Wallyworld, and Carlos proved himself a grill meister at C3. I know what the good stuff is. Carlos surpassed that, with ease. I can still see it, taste it. Greek seasoning and adobo? I'll remember with the morning's coffee.  | ||

Looks like all the gas stations in Dahlonega have gas,so there is gas in the area.I'll update through the week.Also Jim's has ribs and pulled pork,I know this is as important as gas availability to many.  | ||

From what I've read, the gas situation should be long resolved by time any of us get there, so even those of us traveling far shouldn't encounter any stations out of fuel. Still, I'll always have my gallon can with me just in case. Oh, Brad is coming, I guess we will need it. As long as Jim's is open the rest I'm not worried about. | ||
