Curt Relick, Danny Goldsmith, and I are going to meet at the Los Gatos Lodge in about an hour to ride up to the site of the accident.

It is 7.6 miles up Bear Creek Road from Highway 17 south of Los Gatos, if anyone else wants to join us today.

If you get to Deer Creek road, or dead-end into Highway 9 you have gone too far.

I want to Thank everyone who came out to the crash site today..
I really think it helped Gordon's brothers,
to see all the people who came - on such short notice.

Tomorrow morning all the Memorial information will be
sent out, either by myself, Jim Armstrong, or Paul Lambert.
I will try to cover every base, in an effort to get as many
motorcycles to Vasona park, as I can.
As well as, Porsche's, as he was in that club too.

We do know this. It will be Friday,
Aug 19th, 5-8pm Vasona Park - I just need to
get the picnic site name.. There is a $5.00 parking fee, sorry.
But sandwiches, sodas, beers, and waters
will be served as well as some Zucchini bread made from
Zucchini pulled from Gordon's
backyard garden - he could turn anything Golden with
just one touch..

I will miss him, I spoke to him one month ago.
Take Care, drive safe!

n behalf of Gordon's family, we greatly appreciate the support and kind thoughts as we work through the tragedy of last Tuesday. The impromptu memorial at the site of Gordon's last moments on this earth -- exactly on week to the minute (2:42pm PDT) were very touching.

I am Gordon's younger brother and while I am no stranger to the Internet, I only watched Gordon's interest with Beull bikes from afar (OK, I've ridden on the back of them as well). His love for the bike, the riders and the entire culture is echoed in these postings -- and became his extended family.

Each of you -- identified and anonymous -- meant alot to him. It was a way of giving back knowledge and support he has received from all of you in the casual conversations, BBQs and indepth conversations about bikes, routes, tuning the machines, suggested new modifications, etc.

In growing up with Gordon, many of his talents -- including musical (he played the viola, which is why he could tune an engine by sound), his artistic ability (drawings of engine modifications) and profound perfectionism in engineering (which used to drive me crazy when we were young) -- have served him well.

As Gordon moves into his next station, I would like each of you to preserve your memory of my brother by giving back to those around you. Since his website at mindspring will eventually go away, I've preserved a copy (and will evolve it over time) to: www.carelife.com/gordon/

I'll include some of his other pictures and tidbits of his life. Unfortunately, I cannot share his engineering knowledge as that was only something he knew.

My brother lives on in our memories and will ride the mountain roads for years to come. It was his life and free spirit. I hope each of this may become part of you -- he would have wanted it that way.

Loren, his younger brother

Gordon's memorial RIDE - Sat 8/20 - 11am sharp departure

NOTE: Please arrive earlier than 11am, for social time and reminiscing.

Our mournful, yet spirited, 80-mile tour will begin at exactly 11am.

The start site is the Sempervirens Point Overlook, a roomy paved lot with a great view - one of Gordon's favorites. It's located approximately 2 mi. beyond the Saratoga Gap's Hiways 9/35 crossroads. After halting at the Gap's STOP sign, take Hiway 9 towards Boulder Creek/Santa Cruz. Once you've traveled about 2 mi., the wide-open Overlook appears on the left, along a straightaway, opposite the Chesebrough Boy Scout camp entry.

After our 11am sharp departure, we'll return on Hiway 9 to the Gap; turn left onto Hiway 35 to Alice's Restaurant; turn left onto Hiway 84 to San Gregorio; turn left onto Stage Road to Pescadero; turn right onto Pescadero Road to Hiway 1; turn left onto Hiway 1 to Whale Bakery in Davenport for refreshments. Then we'll continue S on Hiway 1; turn left onto Bonny Doon Road/Pine Flat Road to Empire Grade Road; turn left onto Empire Grade Road to Jamison Creek Road: turn right, descending Jamison Creek Road to Hiway 236; turn right onto Hiway 236 to Boulder Creek; turn left onto Hiway 9 and continue back to the Overlook.

Whether you're astride a bike or driving a car, please join us this coming Sat.....

After reading Lorens input (Gordies brother) I know all your write-ups, etc has helped their family, with his loss. He was soo close with his brothers.

Thank you guys for everything..

Gordon's brother, Chris, needs a M/C for Sat ride

At this point, we're unsure if either of Gordon's 2 remaining M/Cs ['84 GPz 550 & '95 S2] are dependably operable.

Has anyone local got a trusty spare steed for Chris [MV 1000 & XLCR Cafe Racer]?

Hello all,

Unfortunately a couple of us that go to American Sport Bike Night can not make the ride on Saturday....
so we (myself and Skip) are going to run the route ourselves on Sunday (21st).

We are planning to meet up at Alice's at 11:00 Sunday morning (closer for us to start from) and run the same loop,
starting and ending at Alice's.

Those others that may be interested in joining us, please do.

Bob Mappes [bobup] XB9SX

--------------------------------------------------

Sounds great to me - too many folks are unavailable Sat, so have at it.

I hereby declare Gordon's 2nd Memorial Ride is 11am tomorrow, Sun 8/21, beginning [and ending] at Alice's.

Loren, somehow i missed your post above, REALLY sorry about that.

thank you for taking a moment to say a few words at this difficult time.

i spent about an hour as the crash site yesterday afternoon before going to Gordon's memorial service at Vasona Park.

it wouldn't bring him back, but i sure wish i knew what happened.

Gordon, as you know, was a very good man, and as we stood in a small, intimate circle at the park at sunset last night, many people told "Gordon stories" and it would appear that my fond recollections of Gordon's kindness, friendship and generosity are shared by all who knew him.

sorry you and i didn't get a chance to meet, but it was nice to see Chris again and to be able to express my condolences personally to a family member.

thank you again for your kind words, Loren.

may Gordon Buhle ride forever in peace.

Jerry Haughton, aka Ferris Bueller.

Jerry,

Thank you for the pictures of the roadside memorial. I only got one shot of the power pole while we were there, and your closeups are more meaningful.

thank you, Jim, and thanks for your kind words over on SacBORG regarding Gordon and the memorial paver fund for the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca. it's cool that so many people have contributed in Gordon's memory, and we all deserve to feel good about what we're doing.

Monique, thanks for all the hard work you put into organizing the memorial and making everyone feel welcome.

it was great to meet you, and i hope the Angel and the back issues of Sportbike USA will help in their own small way to keep Gordon's spirit alive.

please take care.

Ferris,

Thank you for the Angel, it is beautiful. Thank Denise for me, too!! I have already read the first two articles Gordon wrote in SportBike USA. Gordon was so smart!

Jack,
Nice Work on the pictures (except I look FAT in them, ha ha). You take awesome photos!!

You are good people, and it is apparent Gordon loved riding with you, as well as, being friends with all of you! : )

Thanks
I will check in again, soon.

Monique,

Thanx for everything you and all the non-M/C side of Gordon's life did to organize and give such a human touch to our gatherings.

To all:

Vik [+ others, too],

I recently said:

"We all liked the paver idea, and now, I have another:

A Gordon patch, simple & rectangular, blue lettering on black, based on the paver design & text. Its cost would be 100% funded by sales, or perhaps underwritten with some of the surplus from the paver account.

Watcha think?"

Ferris replied:

"....the patch idea sounds good, and i encourage you to run with it. clear anything that involves promoting your idea via BADWEB with Blake first.

using the paver design that Vik has spearheaded sounds great. there could be issues regarding using some of the paver fund for this, since the money so far has been donated for that purpose only.

i'd be ok with a portion of the $ that Denise and i donated being used to design and create a patch, but i can't speak on anyone else's behalf, of course.

the time to run with the patch idea is now, while Gordon's memory is still fresh and vivid in our collective minds...."

Comments, anyone?

RE: the patch

I'm ready to set it up, but am unclear about the text.

Vik/Ferris, is the paver text set? The illustration? May we use these as the basis for the patch?

Just a bit of a strange coincidence...Tonight at my wife's 40th birthday party, a good friend who works for a large moving company told me that he was coordinating the moving of Gordon's effects up to Chris Buhle's place in Oregon and elsewhere. He was very familiar with the accident. A neighbor let him in and told him the whole story. My friend shared this with me because he knew I was into Buells like Gordon was. Wow...

Gordon had a very immaculate and organized home...and a good testimony among his neighbors.
