My '07 Uly is having similar problems to what my '06 Lightning had. With the '06 the problem was first frame grounds, and then the voltage regulator. With the '07 the Uly stumbled to a halt about halfway through a 50 mile ride (after having installed a new battery). had to trailer 'er home. It took about 14 hours on a Battery Tender charger to get fully recharged. The battery measures about 12.5 volts non-running, and gets up to around 14 volts when I started it. So far, so good, right? Then the voltage started spiking, up around 18V, dancing around, and then dropped to around 12V. I seem to smell a hot electrical smell, but not when I pull the primary chain adjuster plate off and sniff inside. I still have a spare stator from my previous '06 problem, but I'm guessing that it's probably the voltage regulator again. Whattaya think? |
